Does everyone "luv" the Dumbo ride???

The reason I am asking is.....we have never felt this was a MUST DO even when our kids were young. I mean there is NO way we would EVER wait in a long line for that. Sure we have been on it many times over the years, but it is not something WE HAD TO DO. It is soooo short of a ride. Even when our kids were young they never freaked out if they didn't ride DUMBO. I know for some people this is where they head to in Fantasy Land as soon as they get there. Just curious. Maybe we are the only ones. :rotfl:

You are not alone. It was fun...once. Since then, we go elsewhere...the bang-to-hype ratio is way off for Dumbo...I'd rather head straight to BTMR, Splash Mtn, etc.

I know some people believe you have to do it for the nostalgia but it's just not for us...

I never go out of my way for Dumbo. And on many trips, I never ride it. If I happen to catch it when there are few people there, I'll take my daughter on it. Otherwise, we're both happy to pass it by.

We're one of the ones that head there first. My DD9 could take it or leave it, but for me it's what I think of when someone says WDW or DL. It always seems to be in their commercials or brochures or magazine ads, etc. It just wouldn't feel right to me if I skipped it. :goodvibes

I think for the newbies it's cool because it's kind of a legend down there. Anyone who hasn't been to Disney seems to know about it. When we went to DL, we had to ride it. My friends, who were seasoned DLers didn't see the bid deal in it. I guess if I went often, I wouldn't either. It's not about the right, it's about having done it. However, when I went to WDW 19 years ago and I was in high school, I didn't do it then. You know.... the whole thing was for "little kids". Now that I have little kids, I can't wait to go on it again!

We still go on Dumbo first thing in the MK. The ride definitely represents "Disney Magic" to me and the view of Fantasyland and the castle in the morning before the park is packed is awesome. I only need to ride once a trip, not each visit to the MK. Not to mention, the sight of my 15 year old son (almost 6 feet tall) willingly squeezed into a flying elephant for his mom's happiness is priceless. :goodvibes

We do it first because if we don't do it first before the line gets long we don't do it. And we generally do it once a trip...other days we bee line to other places instead. But our 7 year olds like it because they can ride it alone! (well, together, but without a parent!)

I think Dumbo is a Disney legend and many people do it because of that and because they rode it when they were kids. I did not and so I have no sentimental feelings for this ride and my DD never asked to do it as well.:confused3

My family likes it because of it's status as an icon, and because it is right behind the castle.

Once it moves, I don't think we will ride it again.

Blech. Truly, it's a waste of time IMO. But when the kids are little, you'll do just about anything to see them smile. So, yeah...I was one of those who rushed back to Fantasyland...

Never did it. I've done plenty of other "versions" of it on the Wildwood boardwalk and at carnivals. Just not what I go to Disney for.

I rode it as a kid, but I'm not the sentimental sap that longs for the days of old when my parents also cut my steaks for me.

That said, Alladin > Dumbo

Sorry, but it does. I also wouldn't wait 50 minutes or more for a ride that is easily duplicated in the magic carpet ride or because I rode it as a kid..

I used to like it when I was a kid. I made DH go on it last year, but I hadn't been on it in 20 years. Just made me feel nostalgic. Other than that-I could leave it.

My little nephew loved it. But it was on of the few things he would go on. He was too scared to go on most indoor rides so this and the carousel were about it.

We have never ridden it.

We tell the grandkids that they can do basically the same ride on Magic Carpets of Aladdin & Tricera Top Spin without having to wait in a long line, and so far, that has satisfied them. :)

When we took our last trip, I thought Dumbo was a "must" on our list, just for the nostalgia and letting our two boys ride it. Sad to say, but they rathered Triceratops and Aladdin's much more.

In fact, our youngest (who was 2 at the time) said while we were riding Dumbo "Can we go back and ride the dinosaurs instead?" I guess that's what happens when you do AK on your first day instead of MK. :rotfl:

It was a "must do" for our DSs when we took them, and it's a real "want to do" for our DGC now! The DGD who isn't really into Dumbo will wait for an hour to get an autograph, with no complaining there!

Bobbi:goodvibes

We have never been on it. The line is always :scared1: My 4 yr old saw it on the last trip and really wanted to try it. I guess on our next trip we will add ourselves to the rope drop rush for dumbo :rotfl:
