My family is heading to the world soon and we're all on the Dining plan. My mom lives in Florida and is planning on driving over and hanging out with us a full day at the park and dinner. We have ADR's for Ohanas to include her. She will not be on the dining plan. How does that work when some at the table are on plan, and some are not? Also...that makes us a party of 6. 5 on plan, 1 not. Can they split the check? I know that on parties of 6 they add tip, but I'm confused as to how that's supposed to work in this situation..

Thanks so much!

You are still a party of 6 so the tip will be added. You just tell them you have 5 on the plan and 1 not. When the check comes just give them your room key and your mom can play any way she likes. Some may give you two checks, some may not but all will probably count you as a party of 6.

This situation is very easy. You just tell the server who is on the plan and who is not, they will split the checks appropriately. However the 18% gratuity will automatically be on both checks...just so you know. That isn't determined by checks, it is determined by who is at the table.

Have a good trip!!

And you would be charged the 18% tip on the DDP amount anyway no matter how many on the plan.

Wait, what? They charge you the 18% just for being on the dining plan??

No, because it's a party of 6.... anything 6 or higher has the gratuity added to the whole bill regardless of how the checks are divided up between DDP/NonDDP groups eating together.

Got it, thanks. For a second I thought she meant that the 18% would have been added regaurdless bc of the DDP.
