Does DVC fill up quickly?

Forgive me, I am new at this, but am trying to rent DVC points for Date Removed. Apparently ALL the resorts are booked for my dates. I thought this wasn't too busy a time of year to get a one bedroom. I am able to find them available through Disney (at a much higher price of course!).

Is this normal? Is it hard to find DVC availability? And if it's all booked up today, what are the chances that that things could change and something could open up?

I was really excited about trying a DVC villa, but I guess I have to start planning earlier next time!

DVC owners can book at 11 months out at their home resort and 7 months out at other DVC resorts. if DVC owners wait too long and can't find a villa available before their pts expire, they risk losing their pts for nothing.

so generally, yes, timeshares like DVC book up much earlier than hotels as they represent prepaid accommodations...and if the owners wait too long, they risk getting nothing in return for their payment.

availability can change at any time - maybe something will open up at a larger resort like SSR - but ** months is pretty short notice for DVC.

Busy park times and busy DVC times are not the same. The point costs are lower for DVC owners who travel during the times of the year that have lower attendance and because of that, it is very difficult to book DVC unless you book far in advance.

If you want to travel using DVC in the fall, it is important to book at least 7 months in advance if you have a preference on where to stay.

DVC resorts usually fill up faster than other Disney resorts since they are owned by their members. The smaller resorts fill up faster since the number of members has grown in the past years.

Not sure of your exact dates but I rented points for October at exactly the 7 month mark to the day and was limited even then. DVC and DVC rentals thru WDW are two different inventories. Just because one is available in one inventory does not mean one is available in another inventory.

It depends on where you want to stay. I own at BLT and it is a struggle to get a room even at the 11 mo window. I just made reserv for next june in a standard studio, calling each day and adding it. Several times the CM made the reserv for my day and then at the end of the conversation went back for fun to see if another room was available and in each case all standard studios were gone. So the room i just got the reserv for went from available to unavailable during a 5min conversation... Now if you are trying to get a room at a large DVC (SSR and OKW) then you have a much greater chance of getting a room. Luckily, we go the same exact time each year so no planning necessary. We just make the reserv like clock work. If you want to go during that time of the year then try a larger resort.
