Does this look infected? My 4 year old DS was complaining all day yesterday that his toe was hurting, he did hurt his toe somehow 2 days ago. This morning it looked like THIS!! I hate to bring him to the doctor just for a blister, but this doesn't look like just a blister, does it?!?!

**Update, thanks for the quick replays, I just got off the phone and he will be going in to see the doctor today at 4:00. **

Looks like an infected blister to me. I think you better get him to the doc and get it taken care of.

Yes, it looks infected. Toe infections are not to be taken lightly. You can become septic and die. You need to seek medical attention today.

It could be impetigo too. Either way I think a trip to the doctor is on today's agenda.

Definitely looks infected. DD had something similar when she was 2 yrs. old and had to take oral antibiotics to clear it up.

I personally would have that looked at by your Pediatrician.

To me, it looks worse than a blister.

I'm also a big believer that when you are in doubt, go to the doctor. There have been way to many times, with my girls, that when I think something is nothing, it's always something.

Good luck and keep us posted on how his toe is.
Lots and PD coming his way :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

something isn't right with that....get him to the dr's and have it looked at today

Ouch! Poor little guy. I'd at least call and describe it to the nurse. Good luck.

Yep, that's pus in there...head for the doc.

As the others have all said - yes it looks infected and a trip to the Drs is a good idea too.

Ow! Poor guy.
I had blood poisoning from a blister on my toe. Red line was up to my knee by the time I got to the Dr's.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

And buy Hydrogen Peroxide for the future.
My feet have some sort of germ that is resistant to Neosporin but that Hydrogen Peroxide vanquishes. The germ causes blistering and a lot of pain for a little redness.

I see that you have made an appt....so just an FYI. My daughter had the same thing and they put her on an oral antibiotic. The ped said kids fingers are dirty and then they sometimes mess with their toes and they get infected. Good luck. She did lose her toe nail though, but it grew back and is fine now!! Let us know!!!!

DEFINITELY! The toenail will likely come off, but my guess is they will lance it so it can drain and then give an antibiotic. Once it is lanced, you can also soak it in an Epsom salts solution to help draw out the pus. DS lost his toenail to one of these once.

My friend Tink had something like that once. It was GROSS!

Glad to hear that your heading to the Dr.

Yes it looks infected- my dd had something that looked like this this summer and when we went to the dr and they lanced it, it was very infected- thought it was a ingrown toenail. Last week was cutting her nails last week and finally figured out what it was. A dog hair had gotten imbedded under her nail and finally grew out. We had to pull it the rest of the way and then I cleaned it very well.

Hope that your little one gets better soon!

Oh poor guy. Yeah, he'll probably loose the nail. I've lost a few fingernails before, and one was similar to that. (not the blister, but it was severed on the cutical and the cut got infected) that nail was acutally ripped off, it didn't just fall off. Once it is not all the way connected, but not falling off, BECAREFUL with it. it'll rip off easily and that hurts so badly. Keep it bandaged up.

OP...please I hope you took him to the Foot MD...as someone who is obsessed with my feet and wanting HEALTHY feet 24/7 (my sign is Pisces the sign of the feet)(as well as fish)...that being said, I would get that looked at PRONTO!!!

I think he will need an antibiotic. He may have difficulty putting his shoes on.

Please UPDATE us.
