Does Disneyland Paris have any "special" rides?

I'll be making my first ever visit to Disneyland Paris this June as part of my European vacation. I know each Disney park worldwide seems to have their own "special" E ticket ride or rides that no other park can claim. What ride(s) would this be for Disneyland Paris?

The DLP board is full of info... it's in the Global Neighbors section.

The only ride we noticed that was different was Crush's Coaster in Walt Disney Studios along with the 3D shows. Overall, DLP is beautiful. Be sure to go to the Castle's dungeon!!

Are you staying on property or in Paris? We took the train to the parks and it was very easy to get there... no way to get lost as the final stop is DLP!

I went last June, did a day trip on 6/6, no crowds at all, basically walked on everything.

They have an Indiana Jones and a Crush ride that I believe are unique. The Toy Story land in the Studios is pretty cute but overall their Studios is pretty sad. Disneyland is beautiful, a lot of the unique attractions are walk throughs.

Their haunted mansion is completely different. Space Mountain is interesting too-just a warning, it goes upside down. I didn't know this and almost lost my phone!

The unique thing that we enjoyed the most was the dragon under the castle.

Here's a link to some pics I posted.

Disneyland Paris has the BEST version of Space Mountain! Yes, it has inversions. It also has side-by-side seating similar to DLR in CA (wider track = smoother ride!), great music and sound effects, and AMAZING visual effects (to include a SUPER NOVA!).

Phantom Manor is a unique version of Haunted Mansion. Be advised, it has a lot more "scary" decaying skeletons, etc. especially at the end. Of note, it's located in Frontierland and has a western theme at the end. This is because the backstory of Phantom Manor is actually related to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (it also borrows heavily from the "bride" storyline). Be sure to look up the backstory online ahead of time. It will make Phantom Manor much more interesting.

Big Thunder Mountain is the most popular ride at DLP (judging by the lines). They do offer "you know what" which we always used in order to avoid those long lines, but they run out early. It's very similar to WDW version, but one unique feature is that it's out on an island in the "river." The ride vehicle travels under the water through tunnels to get there and back.

Crush's Coaster in the studio park is great! Be warned it spins! The motion could be an issue for some, but it does a great job of simulating "swirling" around in the EAC. The ride is indoors, with bubble projections, etc. adding to the effect. Before the lift, there are also appearances by several Nemo characters.

The "Armegeddon Special Effects Show" at the studio is pretty cool. Be advised you stand the entire time. Essentially you are in a set of the space station and then meteors start hitting the station and chaos ensues. Loud noises, explosions, and jarring motion could be an issue for some.

Pirates of the Carribean is closer to the version at DLR (although they have the skeletons at the end... which kind of makes sense with the story).

The entire complex is much more like DLR in that you enter through security into a large courtyard area with both parks right next to each other (as well as Disney Village shopping and dining complex). To park hop you just exit one park, walk across the courtyard and head into the other. Very convenient!

Do not miss the dragon under the castle!

And Disney Dreams is a great nighttime spectacular... think Wishes fireworks + Magic, Memories, & You-style projections on the castle + Fantasmic/WOC fountains and projections on water "screens." Amazing show!

Thanks! Ha I didn't even realize there was a global parks board, thought there was just WDW and DL.

We were just there this past summer for an extended visit. Disneyland Paris is easily the most beautiful of the three "castle parks" I've been to (DL, MK, and DLP). On the other hand, Studios still feels a little under-developed.

magicbob touched on most of the unique rides. If you are a Haunted Mansion fan, Phantom Manor is not to be missed; it does not use the original score, and the music here is genuinely haunting! The music is available on some of the Mansion attraction CDs that were (and might still be) sold in the US parks.

There is also a much higher-capacity version of the storybook boats that you will see at Disneyland, but sadly without the human CM narrating the trip, so it loses quite a bit of its charm.

But, to me, the real "attraction" of DLP is the many walk-through areas (we *loved* the Curious Labyrinth) and the general sense that there is more space and energy devoted to placemaking. The Magic Kingdom is in some ways a little bit sterile; it is more an engineering marvel in some ways than a genuine expression of time-and-place (New Fantasyland excepted). DLP is as though you took the charm of Disneyland, but gave it a Magic Kingdom-sized canvas across which to be expressed.

The day parade is every bit as good (and possibly even better than) the one currently running at Disneyland, and well above any of the current or recent offerings at MK. Disney Dreams is a fantastic evening show---there are fireworks, but they are not the main attraction; the castle projections and water effects are. Interestingly, everyone sits down for Dreams so that everyone else can see! And, there were enough people wearing Glow With The Show ears that they really added to the experience.

I have been to DLP many times and it truly is a beautiful park, on a different scale from WDW.

However our friends over on the Disneyland Paris board love to help folks plan their DLP trip so I will move this thread over to this board :thumbsup2

I've got to say, that reading this thread through makes me swell with pride for "our" park :)

Don't forget Buzz Lightyear's Later Blast - the guns come out of their holster and I've heard this makes a massive difference (unless you're me, I'm useless!).

We might have some of the "same" rides, but they are different versions and most WDW/DLR visitors either fall in love, or are shocked at doing a loop the loop ;)

RC Racer and Parachute Drop aren't to be missed (Toy Story Playland in the DS) and are great fun!!
