Just wondering? We will be making our first trip to Disneyland this October and was thinking about MNSSHP??? We love the party at WDW.

We arrive after our RCI cruise on Wed Oct 14th...If there was going to be a party that evening that might be an option for us?

We know we want to spend 2 full days at MK and California adventure parks.

So much planning!!!:confused3 I am out of sorts here...not knowing where to begin...I am so used to WDW.....

They have one at Disney California Adventure. I have no idea how similar it is to WDW, though.

There is one in DCA. It has party stations, candy stops, and character wandering and set up in photo locations. I don't know what happens at the WDW one, so I don't know how similar they would be

The party(ies) at DCA are a lot of fun, but I don't think as elaborate as WDW's MK. I believe the party at WDW's MK has a great parade (with the headless horseman riding down Mainstreet) whereas the party at DCA ends with a rather......short, lackluster parade of villians walking by and waving. Also, I think at WDW they have special Halloween fireworks too, but they don't have any fireworks at DCA.

However, the parties at DCA have lots of candy stops, live music, dancing, lots of character meet-n-greets, spooky shadows and lights, ect. My family had a great time! We just may go back again this year at that time.:thumbsup2

I will check it out when they release the dates...I am sure it is similar to WDW..Sounds about the same accept it is not at the MK location. Isn't that where the HM is with the whole Jack theme???

We may just end up doing the parks on Thursday and Friday so we get more park time and leave Wednesday for just exploring the area.:confused3

I still have plenty of time to work things out.

Thanks...

The HM is in DL not DCA. The party is fun, we had a great time. :)

Yep, the HM, which should be all decked out with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay that time of year (although there has been rumors that they aren't doing that this year), is located in Disneyland park.

(I don't think Disneyland park is called the Magic Kingdom though. I think it's just called "Disneyland".....well, at least that's what I call it. For me, the Magic Kingdom is at WDW, and Disneyland is just that.....Disneyland. I could be wrong though - wouldn't be the first time.:goodvibes )

Thanks for all the help...:cloud9:
I am knew to all this Disneyland stuff. I will get the lingo...:rolleyes1

I hope they keep the Jack Skellington theme...I love Nightmare before Christmas.

This is so exciting...I love planning trips!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

I also did the Trick or Treat at DCA last year and it was a blast!!! Lots of rides were open, with super short lines, lots and lots and lots of candy, and fun characters to take pictures with. I would love to do it again if we can this year, but with a new little one it might be tough.

The Nightmare HM is called the Haunted Mansion Holiday. There is some debate about it going up this year due to the HM's 40th anniversary and the fact they are having a HM Special Event on 9/9/09 which is close to when the HM usually goes down for the switch. Personally I am thinking it will be back, but I could be wrong, hopefully we will find out soon!

Also look for Jack and Sally out for meet and greet near Halloween in DL. Last year was the first year they were out regularly and I think they were a big enough hit to expect to see them again this year. There is also a special NBC shop in New Orleans Square. The selection off season for NBC, was better then on season at WDW for merchandise!

At WDW we went to two of the Halloween parties I actually planned the trip and took my adult sons just to show off my costume handiwork, and with a few minor glitches we had a ball.
Not sure I could do this at DL or that it would have had the same impact.
also not sure now that they have discontinued the Jack Sparrow character in the park if costume would have been allowed again now. When I did it they had no character yet or any merchandise for that matter in the parks.

The WDW parties are awsome and the Headless horseman ride is incredible.

Costumes will be allowed for adults but only in DCA during the party hours. So you would have to leave, dress up and go to DCA for the party. If we go this year DBF and I are dressing up as well as the kids.....we are talking costumes already. :)

Nice Costumes!

Even popular character costumes are allowed for adults and kids, for the event in DCA. But you will be asked not to take pictures with guests, which could happen with great costumes. Though you are allowed to take pictures of other peoples costumes, I did for one of the best Scarlet O'Hara's I have ever seen and a family dressed as Mary Poppins, Bert and the kid's as penguins.

I went as a character that was breifly in the parks myself, the White Witch from Narnia.

Yes I am WELL AWARE of the no pictures with guests thing, when we did go we no sooner got through the gates than we were stopped by guests and a line formed literally in seconds. We assured everyone we were guests, nothing to do with the park etc. people were taking pics like mad. next thing we are surrounded by black shirts and threatened that if we allow guests to take pictures we will be thown out of the park. spent the rest of the evening telling people sorry as we were shadowed by security everywhere we went.

Like we could stop people taking pictures. It got to where if we were stopped talking people would edge up next to the boys and suddenly you see flashes.

Even the CM's were stopping us and asking for pictures.

That whole being made to feel like we were doing something wrong was the only down side. Other than that I really enjoyed riding behind, [I use a scooter] and just watching peoples reactions to them.pirate:
