We usually book early December and would take advantage of a discount code; however, my oldest is going to college this year, and we had to book after 12/14, which is "peak" season.

Does anyone remember if Disney usually offers some discount code for this time period? I will not hold you responsible if they don't, but want to weigh all my options.:confused3

I have seen discounts that go up to the week prior to Christmas but you had to check in by a specific date. If it was a room-only discount, then it was only applied to the effective dates for the promotion. IOW, if it ended on 12/23 and you stayed until 12/26, you didn't get a discount on the nights of 12/24 or 12/25.

Last year's general public code ran through 12/22/12 and it was a room-only discount.

We have gone the last two Decembers and have gotten free dining during the time frame you are talking about. Both of my sons were college students and I am a Professor so we had to wait until classes were out to travel. Great time to be in the world.

Thanks for the information. This is the first time I will have to follow 3 different school schedules (College, High School, and Grade School :teacher:). I have always booked my air as far in advance as possible, then room after discount posted, but if no discount, then I was going to AAA discount.

Thanks to your better memories :) I wll wait to see what gets published in the next few months.

I was there this year DEC 23rd to Jan 1st. I was not able to locate any discounts at Disney so I split the stay to save costs and did 7 nights off site and checked into pop on dec 30 for 2 nights. It was 180 a night plus tax for pop for those days.

Usually Disney "blacks out" the dates between around the 22nd through the 1st for check-ins.
After that point, room-onlys are determined by night, so if it's a room-only discount you won't be able to get it after that date.
Packages can be had for the duration, as long as you check-in on an included day.
(at least that's how it's been in the past)

They seem to still be doing it this way with packages. And any room-only discount can be made into a package. So if there is a room-only offer that ends on 12/22 this December, you might be able to book a discounted package thru the holidays as long as you check in on or before the last day of the discount.
