We will be at DW in early October. Sadly, Big Thunder Mountain will be closed through November. Is there any chance that these things finish early and will be open for our visit?
I wouldn't count on it unfortunately. BTTM has only been open on two of our trips. Our most recent was the first time our youngest ever rode it. It had been so long that our oldest didn't remeber riding it haha

There's no real way to surprise people and open early. CMs from attractions under a long refurb are reassigned to other locations and it takes at least a few weeks ahead of time to get them back.
We did luck upon HM opening up following it's closure last year. It was only a day or two early and they'd open it for a while, test thing, close it, open it, repeat, until it's official opening day. The only nice part was, when they opened it, there were no FP guests, only stand by, so it moved pretty quick.
BTTM is closed for us too but at least I can do POC which was closed last year when we went. We never get graced with an early open to a refurbishment.
