Does Disney ever discount the price of the Annual Pass?

If I knew that we'd be able to go again by this time next year, I'd just go for it. We're going to Europe when school ends in May, so I doubt we can afford it this year, but that had me wondering about the price and whether it drops or not ever.

I don't believe I've seen one for the general public. You can get a discount if you are a Florida resident.

If anything, the price goes up.
And of course those who renew get a price break from those who just buy. (Rather than letting it expire and having to buy, rather than renew.)
The only other price breaks I recall are/were DVC-ers getting a discount. Not sure if this is still the case since we are not DVC.
There have been some specials for AP buyers, such like what is on now where 15 months cost the same as 12. (Think those are the numbers. It's not time for DH's renewal yet. And really don't even know for sure if this is renewals too, or just new ones period.)
However doesn't seem like you are saving any $ if you don't use it for several months once renewing.

i will refrain then. not worth it as we try to go other places throughout the year.

now if i could just move us into a school district that does the year around plan to give us more mid-school breaks. :sigh

There was a promotion this past summer where they sent existing AP Holders $25 discount cards to give to friends. Several people on this board posted offers to send them to DIS members.

A few months ago (ended at the end of July I think) AP holder received four codes for a percentage off (I think 15%, but may have been 10%) that they could give to others to purchase a new AP. Each one could be used for up to six new APs and the current passholder got a $25 gift card for each new AP purchased with their card. I don't know if or how often they have done this in the past. If it was a new offering, then it may come down to how successful this year's promotion was.

That's about the only one I've ever seen, and proportionally it was small.

The only other unoffical one I've seen was allowing guests to buy tickets as part of a apckage and then put them towards the cost of an AP. Generally, you can still do this, but they may well not allow it if the tickets had a promotional discount.

The most recent discount (get 7 for price of four) no longer allows guests to buy one day tickets.

A few years ago, back when Ocala still had the Disney office, I was able to get a 10% ( I think ) discount on my husband's AP. You had to have one AP to get the discount. That is the only AP discount I have ever been able to get on tickets.

Slightly Goofy

I took advantage of the 10% friends and family of a current AP holder discount this past June. It saved me 10% on a new AP, plus I had an old one day ticket that I applied to the purchase. This promotion was only for new AP's purchased in June and July 2009.

The other way to save on an AP is to buy a MYW ticket from a discount ticket broker, use the ticket once at the entry gate, then upgrade it to an AP. After the ticket is used for one entry, its value is the gate value and not the discounted value. You can save approximately $35 (based on current ticket broker prices) this way.

Another way, at least last year some did this was to get the 7 nights for the price of 4 and purchase the nonexpiring ticket. You will pay for a 4 day nonexpiring and get the value of the 7 day nonexpiring ticket (over about 100 per ticket in value off the AP) There was the offer that some are describing if you were able to get a Pass Along Card from a current AP holder and use it to get your New AP at 10% off (about 50 on an adult ticket when offered) The AP holder received a $25 Disney Gift card as well We did this as current AP holders and gave the card to my son, he saved the 50 and I received the $25 giftcard. There was some talk of the AP having a 15 month life as well. I'm not that familiar with that. You should check out Cheshire Figment's ticket sticky for information.

That's a good idea, but you don't really have to use it to get the discount. Simply take it to a ticket window, tell the CM you want to upgrade to whatever and then they will credit the price of the ticket (whatever the current gate price is, not the price you paid for the discounted ticket as Disney would not be able to look that up by simply scanning the ticket) and put it on a gift card (which they won't give you). They will then ring up the new ticket and then apply the amount placed on the gift card towards the purchase and you simply pay the difference, if any. I've done this a few times and this has been the procedure they've used each time.
