Does Disney ever change schedules on closed rides (Indy)?

We didn't see this one coming - Indiana Jones closed most of May. We'll miss it by a few days. Do they ever surprise the crowds and re-open early?

Not usually, especially on short refurbs they know their timing. There have been a few times where 1 refurb went over to the start of the next one got delayed. It happened with the carousel a few years ago. And then there was the year plus BTMRR one that kept getting extended. But for the short ones, in addition to sticking to the schedule, they generally don't change their staffing schedule to bring people in a day early if the ride isn't scheduled to be open.

We went a couple of years ago and Peter Pan was scheduled to go into a multi-week refurbishment on our second day. But the ride stayed open for our entire trip, at least two days past scheduled closing.

They're pretty good on knowing how long a refurb will take, especially the short ones.

I've know rides to sort of open a day early but it's usually pretty random and a lot of the times it's a 'quiet' testing where the ride doesn't actually 'look' open (you can't see a queue) but a CM will be standing outside and if you ask if it's open they may discreetly wave you in.

Don't count on it, but keep your eye open.

I was there last week. Boarded up, FP machines covered, and wait time sign black. BUT, at one point we were walking past Indy and I saw there were return times listed for FP, and a 10 minute wait sign posted. I got so excited, and ran over to the FP machines...it turned out to be a fluke. I was hoping they may have just been doing some sort of soft opening, but no, it was just a mistake or testing.

:sad::sad::sad:

The Matterhorn surprised us last month and opened up two days before its scheduled opening so yes, it DOES happen! :-)

I'm glad you asked, because I wondered the same, haha.

My first day is the 25, so assuming Indy reopens on-schedule on the 26, I should be able to get on it before the end of my trip... BUT... a small part of me worries the refurb will run long and I'll miss my chance to ride it. I've been to WDW loads, but never been to DLR, so hearing so many great things about it, it was one of the main things I wanted to ride!

I lucked into a weirdly narrow window, where Indy and Guardians of the Galaxy will re-open right after I arrive, but Hyperspace Mountain doesn't close until right after I leave, haha. Thankfully I shouldn't miss any of them... provided they stick to schedule.
