Does Disney ever buy contracts directly back from owners?

Hi,

I have a question that I thought you experts might know. Does Disney ever buy contracts back directly from an owner. We own our contract outright, but no longer think we'll need it. We moved to Florida a year ago and just don't think we'll use it anymore. I'd hate to have to pay 11-12% in commission in order to sell our membership and wondered if we can just contact Disney to see if they'd bite.

Put it on Ebay with a reserve. If you get a low offer, perhaps Disney will exercise ROFR. No, fees other than closing and transfer.

No, DVC will not buy a contract directly from a member. ROFR only comes into play when an accepted offer is submitted to Disney for consideration.

You will have to have a legitimate buyer and if Disney feels the price is too low, they will buy the contract at the same terms already agreed upon.

You can try E-bay, list your contract at www.tug2net or let one of the <a href="http://www.dvc-resales.com">resale brokers</a> assist with the sale.

I suspect if you looked around you could find a broker willing to take a flat fee to sell your unit. But before I sold I would rent a year or two worth of points so I could be sure I wouldn't want to use it a couple years down the road...and also to help recover some of the principle and pay the maintenance. One could also look at principle recovery as acquiring the funds to place the unit on the market.

Min is usually the higher of $995 or 10%, some are up to 12% with higher minimims.
