I've heard about these cruises that generally go nowhere, just out to sea or something close by but no ports...actually sounds fun to me and possibly cheaper since theres no port expenses, so....does disney have anything like this??
Thanks in advance...:confused3

I haven't heard of a cruise like that before. But it sounds interesting. How about a cruise that hangs sails around Castaway Cay for a week with about half of the days being sea days and the other half being CC days. I'd book that cruise in a heartbeat.

There is ONE cruise to nowhere with Disney. It is right when the WONDER arrives in LA. It is a two night cruise.

Day one:
Los Angeles

Day two:
At sea

Day three:
Los Angeles

And last time I checked, I think it was sold out. It' in January 2011 and fills the gap between when the Wonder finishes the Panama Canal cruise and when the first Mexican Riviera cruise starts.

Yep, and there are lots of DISers on it. And most of us are introducing friends and family who have never cruised to DCL. BWAAAAAA HAAAAAA HAAAAAAAA...more people sucked into our evil clutches!

And I do believe it is sold out, think someone reported that the final suite got booked over the last few days.

.

Arent those really just "gambling cruises". I mean cruise to nowhere?

Normally they are, since ships have special exemptions from gambling rules, but since DCL doesn't have casinos on the ship, not quite the same reasoning here. For folks in the LA area, it seems like a great way to get a taste of DCL. And the assumption is that the cruise will count toward Castaway Club status the same as any other cruise, so it's a quick way to improve your status if you were able to book it while it was available.

How can you find out about the cruises to nowhere. I realize the Jan 2011 is not going to happen, but I'd love the opportunity for a quick jaunt.

Thanks DIS friends. These boards are amazing.

We are in So. Cal. and this is a mother/daughter trip. We love spending a night one of the Disneyland properties (especially The Grand California) while visiting the parks (annual passes).

This 2 day cruise to nowhere is cheaper! Also, I plan to book a MR cruise onboard

They are not regular occurrences for DCL since much of the schedule is set well in advance. You can look for unaccounted breaks in schedule, regularly check the website, work with a good TA who does all of that, and frequent this board. The current cruise to nowhere was announced here by an observant DISer, and promptly filled up within a week or so of coming available.
