I was wondering what Disney does with their theme parks, hotel guests, and such during a storm? I'm sure they try to protect their hotel guests as best as they can, but what do they do with the parks?

It depends on how bad it is supposed to get. I know we went on the coattails of Floyd and they did close the parks.

We were also there during a Tropical Storm ????? I'm forgetting the name but they DID NOT close the parks during that.

We were there in '99 during Floyd. It was the first time they ever closed the parks. We were given many, many letters under our door telling us to fill out tubs with water, etc. They did close the parks early one day. We walked around, and they were bringing in umbrellas, tables, and securing stuff the best they could.

I remember when Floyd hit, we came down the day after, they were saying how monumental that was because they had NEVER closed for prior storms.

Legend has it that the Mouse protects much of this Central Florida area.....

Yeah they never close...only the one time for Floyd...and I dont think it ever hit there did it?

I do knw we closed early a few times when I was there as a CM...like just before dark...

Fill tubs with water because 1. water service can be interupted, 2. water can be tainted. You can boil water to make it safe to drink. You may need water to flush your toilets, wash or drink. Sorry. Been through this several times.

No, it didn't hit. The next morning there were tree branches on the ground, and the grounds looked messy, but nothing serious. They ended up opening Animal Kingdom that day.

Nope, Floyd never did hit........it stayed it BIG OLE SELF out in the Ocean thank goodness.

It was a HUGE HUGE STORM!

They actually did close all 3 parks(pre AK) at least one time prior to the Floyd closing. It was for Hurricane Erin in 1995. I was there on my honeymoon and all parks closed earlier than scheduled that night, August 1 and from what I heard(I didnt look into as we were leaving) they were closed the next morning too.
