Does disney cancel your "extra" ADRs?

I just read a thread on theme parks that someone had 2 bog dinners scheduled for their week in wdw, and the second was cancelled withot their knowledge. When they complained to the Cm, the cm said the system must have thought the second was a mistake and cancelled it. They were unable to rebook. (I am paraphrasing, but that is the gist)

I've seen discussion threads on this with opinions in both directions-

I would think that with disney's recent sluggishness with releasing park hours, evening events, etc others may have had duplicate ressies for recent trips and the cancelled once plans were firm...

Has anyone else recently had an issue with this?

Thanks!

I hope not - especially if it's like you described. I have three BOG ADRs and I plan on keeping all of them! I can see there being a problem if two bookings were at the same time, but the system doesn't allow you to do this anyway.

As I understand it, you can have two reservations for dinner on two different days but it won't let you have 2 reservations within 2 hours of each other. I don't recall anyone having their ADR cancelled when the meals have been different days or even different meals (such as breakfast and dinner).

I have never heard of this happening. If you try and book a second reservation within an hour of one that you already have booked, the system will prompt you to ask if you want to cancel the first before making the new one. If the times are over 1 hour apart, you should be fine keeping them all. I don't think anyone would be okay with the system making a judgement call and canceling a reservation without first asking.

That's what I thought too!

In this day and age of big brother, I would hope they would at least email or call me first through one of the many ways they have to contact me!

Me no likey.

Agreed!

Maybe it was just a weird glitch.

The CM was wrong to give that reason. The "system" isn't looking for reservations on different days at the same restaurant.

Disney will cancel ADRS made at the same day and time with the same name. This is for the obvious reasoning to stop guests from over booking and just not showing up for one of the ADRs. This policy gives other guests a chance to make ADRS, and fairly so!

I have never heard of cancelling a ADR's with the same name on different days.

Did she not keep the confirmation number? That's the whole reason they give that number - in case there is a glitch in the system and the reservation isn't showing up.

the poster said he had the conf number, but the cm said it was cancelled. He ended up with a conciliatory FP.

My guess is that this whole thing was just a misunderstanding. The guest was talking to a hotel front desk CM who was trying to be helpful, but the question should've been directed to a dining reservation CM. (The original post implied that the CM was wondering out loud and said it "might" have been cancelled because (reasons), and not saying it with specific knowledge.)

It's possible that there was a glitch, but human error is the more likely explanation - that either the guest cancelled it without realizing or never actually completed the process of making the reservation in the first place.

I recommend looking for the original ADR confirmation number (in email) and calling (407)WDW-DINE to ask what happened. They should have a record of any cancellation that might have occurred, and how it happened.

Yet on occasion I still see folks bragging how they have 2 or even 3 reservations for the same day at different restaurants--and so close to the same times that obviously they have no intention on keeping but just one.

I would not be surprised.........I guess the computers dont always pick it up. Yet as rude and unfair this type of thing is to other guests, as you say, some are proud of themselves.

OR one is made in mom's name, one is made in dad's name, different email/credit card numbers. Disney has made it more difficult, but you can still make multiple ADRs as long as you put in some effort to keep track and cancel the ones you won't use. (or just "eat" the cancellation fee)

So, the CM made a wild guess. No, they don't cancel duplicates. Not even if they are booked under the same account, with the same name, at the same restaurant, at the same time. If a reservation is cancelled, someone cancelled it. Maybe it was an accidental click. Maybe it was someone with the wrong confirmation number. Maybe it glitched and showed up in someone else's account and they freaked out and cancelled it. Maybe the restaurant is closing for a private party during that time (you'd get a phone call). But the system won't cancel anything.

That is good to hear!

I'm thinking we may be missing some detail here. Sounds weird they had this issue on separate days.

We had a second BOG reservation (different days over a 13 night trip) cancelled on us while we were onsite.

Went to the first one...then about 2 days in advance of the second one I went to cancel, due to wanting to see the Osborne Lights one last time, and it showed it was already cancelled. CM said someone cancelled it at a time that put us IN a park. It wasn't us...

I think it is one hour, I had one reservation and was waiting a few days for my FP to open before cancelling one and it let me have two and they were 1 hr apart. I kept it for maybe a week, one was not cancelled.

Yikes- this would upset me.
