Does DDP have to be bought by all?

We are planning a trip in December 2008 with friends DH and I will have a Studio and they will have one too, they want the DDP but we are not sure if we do. It is two rooms so can only one room get it or do both have to because the ressie will be made all together?

If you have separate rooms, you don't have to both get it.

The DDP will include everyone listed on the reservation. In this case, you will have 2 reservations and can apply the DDP to either reservation. If only one party wants the plan they can have it for their room and you will not need to have the plan for your room.

I haven't made the ressie's yet we will be going to BCV for Dec. 2nd 2008 and will be calling 11 months out. I have friends who are renting my points for a studio and then my DH and I will get a studio, so it will be two rooms. But do I have to make seperate ressie's when I call DVC or will they just do the one? I want to do the friends in their names, since they are renting my points.

It will be 2 separate reservations with 2 unique confirmation numbers. You will be able to add DDP to either reservation for all parties listed on that reservation.

When you call make it clear that you do not want the reservations linked, then add the DDP for the other party.

I should know the answer to this...but I've never booked multiple rooms, so I don't.

When you book multiple rooms, are they always separate ressies with separate confirmation numbers -- or do they sometimes lump them together in one ressie?

As Sammie pointed out above, that would make a big difference in OP's situation.

I've done this twice...both times I reserved 2 studios, one for me and one for my friends. Did both reservations at the same time (on the same call to MS)...started with "I need to book two studios, one for me and one for my friend and her family"...MS booked each studio separately (taking names, addresses, etc for each villa)...then I added DDP to one of the two reservations, but not to the other...Worked fine...no problems at all...

The reservations showed up as two separate reservations on the website--we never even discussed linking, altho I did ask that we be placed close to each other (I wound up in a studio directly upstairs from the one my friends had, at OKW (Turtle Pond)...it was great...(the other one hasn't happened yet...that trip comes in Feb)...

separate rooms, two studios in this case, are always separate reservations.

In this situation it is possible to manipulate the people in the rooms to adjust the DDP needs.
