Does DAS work for this?

Hello all!

I am certain this is probably somewhere on the boards, but I have read some different opinions/answers to questions and could use some clarity before our FP+ booking night in a few days.

We thought we understood that DAS could only be used for attractions that had a standby queue. So we didn't think that we could use it for things like Parades, or Wishes. I have read in some threads (granted they are about a year old) that people said that showing the DAS (the old card style) would result in CMs letting you into the FP+ or "roped off" areas for parades and wishes.

Can the DAS qualify you for these activities? and if so, do you just scan your band like for everything else now? Also, can the DAS be used for things like Fantasmic?

Our little guy sometimes has a great deal of trouble when in long lines or waits, and can sometimes have difficulty when packed into tight spaces with others.. We had heard that the FP+ areas can sometimes offer a slightly less dense population, and we are considering using FP+ for things like parades and Wishes, but we don't want to "waste" them on those if we can use the DAS. I also don't want to feel like I am taking advantage of the system if the DAS isn't really supposed to be used on those types of attractions.

Thanks for any help in understanding the right thing to do.

I would probably get Fastpass for it if you can for 2 reasons:

1) you would be sure that you could get in. If you decide to try to use DAS, there is no guarantee you could use it.
I know some people were able to use GAC (the discontinued Guest Assistance Card) to get into the handicapped viewing area. I don't remember ever reading someone used GAC to get into the Fastpass viewing areas.

2) if you were able to use DAS, it would be tied up from when you obtained the DAS Return Time until you use it.

No a DAS dose not work for wishes at the MK I have a lot of problems with the fier works at Disney and have been allowed in the fast pass area because of a very nice CM who knows about my disability and I am alone when I am able to go in the fast pass or stand next to this CM

I would not count on this at all so I would just get a fast pass

As others have said, the DAS won't help with parades and fantasmic, but a wheelchair tag for the stroller might (if your child is small enough for a stroller). We used to use the stroller tag for the ride lines, but no longer need it for that. We do use it for Fantasmic, and other shows that have bench seating (stunt show, etc) as my DS can't handle the crowded seating, but does great sitting in his stroller.

I would, however, not recommend using the wheelchair area for the parades, as they get even more crowded than the regular areas, in my experience. For parades, at MK we head back to Frontierland for smaller crowds (and again, keep DS in the stroller).

Thanks all. Ours is definitely too old/big for stroller, so I think we will just try for FP+ for F! and Wishes if we can get it, and DAS on TSMM on our Hollywood Studios day since we can't FP+ both F! and TSMM.

Thanks for the suggestions and information. I appreciate it very much.

not sure when you are going but I did F on a night that there was 2 the second one was only half full the middle was very full but the sids was not there was no one around me and it was great I do not think I could have handle it if there was people around me. and I was able to get a FP about 2 hours before not that I needed one.

also not sure how many people you will have but you might be able to save a set so that the DAS holder can walk around go to the bathroom get something to eat things like that with someone else.

People have all sorts of different experience with DAS and the fp areas for wishes etc.

When we went in may, we watched fantasmic 3 times, each time they allowed us to sit In the wheelchair section for the show, first time we was allowed through the fp line to gain entrance to that area, 2nd and 3rd we just turned up around 10 mins before the show started, and was shown to the wheelchair/ disabled seats.

We also was able to do this the June-july before that.

I haven't tried at Mk as we normally are happy to stake out an area, or to watch from behind the castle ( my preference for viewing) since you feel that your right in the middle of the fireworks.
