My ds5 has been complaining of an upset tummy on long car rides recently, although he hasn't lost his lunch yet. He has been playing his GameBoy in the car. Would that make it worse? I know I can't read in the car without getting naseous.

Anyway, now I'm afraid he (and me!) may have a rough time on our upcoming 3 hour flight to Orlando.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Just from my own experience I would say yes the game boy will make you get car sick. I can seldom read in the car or I get car sick.

Now for some reason the plane rides do not normally upset me. Once I had a very rough flight and I thought I might get sick but the roughness went awy and I had a coke and felt fine.

Yes, avoid the gameboy thing during ascent and decent. Focus on out the window views during these flight segments. Visual focus is critical if motion sickness is a problem.

Air travel, and it's sensations still present a problem to some, but still, find the horizon, visually, if you can, and focus on it, this should help.

I have never been sea sick, or air sick, BUT, reading anything while riding makes me feel abit weasy.

I get car sick and always have. I can drive no problem, but can't sit anywhere else. I do get sea sick too! I never got air sick tho :(

I cant read in a car, DD cant either.

I think he'll be ok in the air, but dont put GB on till your up there :)

for me, yes, car sick = air sick.

I can't play a gameboy or similar thing in the car and must ride in the front seat, either driver or passenger. I've been sick on a plane before if there is a lot of turbulence. Sea sick too. I highly recommend dramamine - the original formula is safe for kids as young as 2. my youngest DD also has motion sickness, and must take a 1/2 tablet before any car ride longer than 45 min-1 hr. I will be giving her dramamine before our flights.

I used to get car sick as a child and I'm still somewhat sensitive to motion. I can't read in a car or look down at something like a handheld game for very long. When flying, during take off and landing, I'll often put my book or knitting aside, lean back against the seat, and focus on the seatback in front of me. For me, looking out the window only makes it worse!

Also, teaching him to breathe in through his nose and out through his mouth will help. I find peppermint and ginger both help, too.

Good luck!

FYI- You can't use the gameboy during take offs and landings. Once you reach 10,000 feet they will let you know when you can use the game boy and other devices.

I really like those new non-drowsy dramamine pills.
I get car sick, but not as bad as I did as a child.

I take one tablet in the morning. It lasts a long time. I've never felt motion sickness on the plane at all. I didn't feel motion sickness in the towncar.
I was very concerned about motion sickness on the Disney busses, but if I'd take one tablet in the morning I was fine all day.

You can get the name brand Dramamine non-drowsy at most drugstores and chain stores.
Walgreens has the store brand of this at a much cheaper price.
CVS has their store brand, too, but not as good a deal as Walgreen does.

Has any one tried the motion sickness Rx patch? My DD9 princess: gets car sick :faint: and I was hoping this might help.
