Anyone's kid on here have a Leapfrog Tag Jr.? If so, what do you think of it? Good Christmas present for a 2.5 year old?

Thanks!:goodvibes

My ds who turns 3 at the end of December got one last Christmas. I bought him one because I bought my dd the regular tag. He likes it, but seems more interested in her tag. I got a really good deal, but he does not use it as much as I would like him to.

Ditto PP. I bought a Tag Jr. for my little girl last Christmas (she was 2.5) she played with it some but not as much as DS (then 4) played with his Tag.
Fast forward a year, DS loves his tag still and now DD plays with it too. If making the choice today I think I might just get the Tag and only a few books. Little ones put more wear & tear on the books - press too hard, rip them. But honestly I'd either do the Tag or wait versus spending the $ on the Jr.

Thank you both. At age 2.5 do you think just going for the Tag now (instead of Tag Jr.) would be worthwhile? She knows all of her letters, some colors and shapes, and can count to 10 already.

She will enjoy sitting with you and reading the stories and touching characters/objects for sounds. The games will likely be over her head.
My DS's favorite feature is that the Tag will play the entire story to you without the book. He takes it bed and it "reads" him to sleep.

My son is about 2.5 yo as well and is getting a Tag Jr. for Christmas. He is really, really into books and he got to play with a Tag Jr. that was on display in Target several months ago and I really think he will love it. My daughter is 5 yo and getting a Leapster this year and that will be way over his head, so I figured a Tag Jr. might be something that he would enjoy on his level.

I think it will end up being a really, really great gift for MY ds. That being said, I think it would depend on if the 2.5 yr old that you are talking about, OP, is really into books and reading yet or not. My ds's favorite things for the past year or more have been books. Last Christmas most of his gifts were books and he could not have been happier.
