Does anyone watch Dr. 90210?

P.S. I wish I could be so stressed out that I couldnt eat! I seem to have the opposite reaction to stress!

I said that exact same thing to DH last night while I was watching the show :rotfl:

If he is 44, he has been a Dr. for almost 15 years. That is just an excuse for work-aholics-needs to establish his business. His little girl is 4 and the baby must be a year now-he is a Dr. who became a dad later in life and has no idea what it is -to spend time with his family.

I've seen it before too! I have always thought the same about his wife. I always thing "What is he doing with her?" She just seems VERY dependent.

I thought on the first episode that she is not Dr's wife material.

I was talking to my boss who is a busy eye doc and he was getting ready to take an unheard of week off, and I said that his wife probably didn't know what to do with an entire week with him. His reply says everything about what a doctors wife needs to be "I think I sort of get in her way and she will be ready for me to get back to work when the week is over."

She raised his kids, and is closer to them as a result. She has so many activities and is quite the hostess for all our parties. I could never be a doctors wife, I am too much like Mrs Rey!

That episode was a good one. I was soooo disgusted by the new doctor on that show, I couldn't be disgusted about Hailey's 88 pounds!
He told the world how much EACH piece of clothing was?!?? 'I am wearing my $88 underwear and my $1100 shirt.' Who does that? :confused3
I think Dr Rey is a good plastic surgeon. They have long hours. I didn't really notice HOW skinny Hailey was until she got on the scale. She's been in a bikini on the show and just looked thin, not sick.
I loved how he went to Mexico to do those surgeries. And while he was talking about how little these people had and how happy they are, they'd go back to the new Doc's house and he would show off his cars or clothes. That was good.

I don't know if it's just me, but I always get a little skeeved out when Dr. Rey enters a room where a patient is waiting, topless, for a follow up appointment and he hugs them upon entering.

Ugh! I can see he' not really hugging extremely close or anything but it's still a little too close for comfort in my book!

I watched the show last night too. She is extremely whiny for her situation. I too have 2 kids close together in age, my husband works long hours, and we have no support. We haven't gone out to dinner or a movie together in over 2 years. Having said that, I wouldn't change my life for anything, it is very hard sometimes when you can't get a break. But, I saw her mom on the show eating dinner with her, so, she isn't all alone. Also they are loaded! And even though in life money isn't everything, but, it takes a major amount of stress off you if you don't have to worry about money.

Yeah, I noticed that and thought how crass! There must be alot of people raised with bad manners because I remember when there was a DIS member (who is supposedly a famous author) that would bold the prices of everything she spent in every post. Goes to show, money doesn't buy class. :)

I can understand all that, but I'm sure no one actually forced them to buy a fancy schmancy mansion that they can't easily pay for! They chose that for themselves.

I do not consider their home a mansion. It seems fairly modest.

They are buying a new house so Dr Rey can spend more time with his family and less time cleaning up obsessively on the weekends. Ummm....he is going to have to work twice as much to pay for it. They are very worried about paying for it.

Ah...ok, I didn't see that. I think their old home was modest.

Yes. I think it's 3000 sq feet. So I'd agree with you. Have no idea how much they are going to sell it for, but the new home is $5 million.

I am a doctors wife (not a plastic surgeon -family doc).
It is a bit harder in reality than you think it is going to be. When we were engaged -I thought well I will have my own life and my own interests and I won't expect him to be home much or help out.
But the reality of having a toddler and a husband who works 60-80 hours a week was hard. Sometimes when I hear a friend talking about having breakfast with their husband, or a husband that does "manly" things around the house I get jealous.
But... I know how blessed we are. I try really hard not to ever complain. And to be frank -the money does make up for a lot.
He is not risking his life -like a fireman or policeman. He does not have to work nights very often. His job is VERY secure. We could live almost anywhere. We are so blessed.

I empathize with Dr. Reys wife a bit -but I think she needs to get some help and pull herself together.
I also agree with everyone who said that he does not need to hug his topless patients. Aside from just being icky -he is setting himself up for a complaint with the medical board -or worse.
He also dresses like a pimp ;)

Oh, that was definitely tacky. I dislike that guy immensely.

I totally agree. I can't imagine my doctor doing that!!

Yeah, their old home seemed okay-- I don't think it seemed too small for them at all, though.

Dr. Rey said the monthly mortgage on their new home will equal his entire yearly salary from his residency days, and he was talking about having to work twice as hard to pay for it. :sad2: I don't see why they had to buy a new house if it's going to be that difficult for them.

Yep, he said the mortgage on his new home monthly is what he used to make in 1 year as a resident.

Now I understand the what everyone was talking about. I was envisioning that rancher. I'm sure it cost a pretty penny, due to location, but not more than what is beyond their means.

I was appalled that they didin't have equipment to do some of those surgeries. I think when I got home, I'd have to somehow send them enough supplies so that they wouldn't have to turn anyone down because of that. It sure would be hard to go back to doing breast implants after that.

Exactly. Last week he said the new mortgage payment was as much per month as what he made when he was a resident! First of all, damn. Second, now he'll be working all the time. As smart as he is, he's kinda dumb.

There is no way Haley is 5'7". You all know how scrawny I am. I'm 5'6" and weigh 97 lbs and I have stick legs! She just looks skinny to me, not emaciated. She has to be like 5'4". I'm confused by that. :confused3

Anyway, Dr. Matlock was obnoxious yesterday. $88 underwear. Who do you want to impress by saying that? Other vain people? And Dr. Rey is self-involved, grandiose, flirtatious and a terrible husband. Need I remind you of his reaction when she had her breast cancer scare? He gets on my last nerve.

Which is why I tune in every week. I love it. :teeth:

Exactly. I think Dr. Rey can be a little creepy at times. He is always encouraging his patients to get a bigger cup size, even when you can tell they are hesitant.

Maybe it's just the tone of his voice or how he is always telling patients that the are beautiful, but he gives me the creeps!

Anyway, I love the show and he is the most....interesting...doc to watch.

I'm kind of bummed that I missed it last night. I think Dr. Rey is creepy and I think I might have a little more respect for him reading that he did some charity work.
I can't stand when he tells the women how sexy they look. blech!
