Does anyone use an ionic humidifier?

DD has been having some issues with her asthma & has been sick with bronchitis & other things for over 2 months now. She's going through all kinds of tests, etc. She also has low immunoglobolins (sp?). (I'm going to ask about these in another thread)

The Dr. suggested we look into getting an ionic humdifier for her room. Does anyone use one? Can someone suggest a reasonable & reliable one? We are looking for one that doesn't use water (is that was the "ionic" part means?) :confused3

TIA!

We have been using one for about six years now. It really does work great, although I have never used another kind to compare it to.
One of the best things about it is the fact that you don't need to buy replacement filters. Although if the ionic rod gets in really bad shape you would have to replace that (which would be really expensive I'm sure) but after six years we still haven't needed to.
Also, in the instructions it says that you shouldn't use one of these if you have a heart condition (you might want to consult your doc first).

We live in Mexico City, one of the dirtiest cities in the world (on a bad day here it is like smoking two packs of cigarettes), so our Ionic Breeze gets a real work out. According to the manual you shouldn't have to clean the rod no more than once a week, we clean it every day (when it starts getting dirty you hear a crackling noise letting you know it needs cleaning) and yet it still is going strong even with this extra work load. You can just imagine how many filters we would have to go through with a regular humidifier.

So the brand you have is Ionic Breeze. Can I ask where you purchased it & the approximate cost?

I believe it was bought at the Sharper Image and I think the cost was close to 200.00. But keep in mind that was almost six years ago. I have no idea what they are going for now.
My in-laws actually bought it for us, so I'm not too sure of the price, but I think that was about how much it cost.

Thank you - that gives me an idea of where to look, what to look for & an approximate price/price range.
