My nose and throat get so dry and cracked this time of year when I sleep.

Does anyone have a humidifier in their bedroom? Does it help, or is it just another thing to gather dust? :confused3

Absolutely!! DH & I run one every single night.

Ours is SUNBEAM "Health at Home"!!

We purchased it at CVS. And it will run for 18 hours!! We fill it each night.

Yep we do too. We use a warm mist humidifier instead of a cool mist. I wouldn't make it through the winter without it.

I use a vaporizer. It was about $10 at Wal-Mart. So easy to use and clean, no filters to deal with. It really kicks out a lot of steam! Do have to be careful, steam is hot, but I haven't had any problems and it has really helped a lot!

We have a whole house humidifier attached to the furnace. I wouldn't want forced hot air heating without one.

we were down to 12% humidity in our house. And we have baseboard heat and that is better for holding the humidity.

we have always used the cool mist type, the water weeps into a thick wick and air is blown across the wick. But the wicks can mold. We added a capful of some sort of chemical into every refill to help resist ther mold growth.

this year we are running a warm air style. This model actualy boils the water and a fan sends out the steam. Too early to comment on the performance.

Many models are available for $20-60 and then there are the real good ones for much more.

My legs and shoulders get dry and cracked without it. So bad the pain can keep me up at night...

I use one too. I run it every night. I use a warm mist one. I got it at Linens & Things, it was normally $49.99, but I had one of their 20% off coupons, so I got it for $39.99.

Funny timing...I'm sick of "shocking" the kids every time I touch or kiss them, so I bought two earlier today and set them up in the kids' rooms. I also have two we already owned that are going in the master and down in the family room. They're all vaporizers.

We do, we have a BIG one, we mostly run it at the foot of the stairs at night. It helps a lot.

We have one in the kitchen for the upstairs and a smaller one in the basement since our room is down there. You can tell the difference when it is not running. I can put chapstick stuff on my lips at night and my lips are still nice in the morning. If it isn't running I wake up to chapped lips even if I put stuff on them before I go to bed. The kids even ask me to make sure it doesn't run dry. I couldn't live without one.

We have a humidifier in every bedroom. They definitely help. I have to be sure to open the curtains in the morning to let the moisture on the windows dry up.

We're planning on getting one for the furnace next winter.

The one we have is an AprilAire 600. You just have to remember to turn a diverter in the winter and the spring. I had it installed but I could have done it myself. Make sure you get the one that uses the (optional) outside temperature probe. It's supposed to work better. You also need to change the water exchanger once a season.

It's a life saver. We have a Hunter that does not require replacement filters. It blows cool air, multi-direction, multi-levels. Got it at Sears.

One upstairs and one downstairs. We run them every afternoon and evening.

We have a whole house one too. I couldn't make it through the winter without it. By the time we are done needing that, we start up the dehumidifier in the summer to keep the excess moisture out :lmao: .

I run a cool mist humidifier by our bed and I have another cool mist one in the dinning area/living room. I get nosebleeds from all the dryness. If you just want to test out a "humidifier" you could keep a pot of water on warm at the back of your stove and see if that helps some. I know some people put cloves and orange rinds or cinnamon sticks in it also. If I'm keeping a pot of water warm it's because I'm boiling vicks vapor rub.
