Does anyone share meals with children?

We are planning our meals for next year and was wondering if it was ok to share food with child. My son doesn't usually like what is on the child's menu and my wife can't eat everything she gets. Is it ok for her to just share with him and save on getting a child's meal that he doesn't like?

I have always shared meals with my son at Disney. The only place it would not work is buffets but sit down or counter service meals, no problem.

ditto the PP that you can't share at a buffet (but you probably already know that). We've shared counter service meals no problem.

My thinking is the same at Disney as it is in 'regular' restaurants. If I order (and pay for) one meal and share it with DD that's perfectly fine (again as long as it's not a buffet).

We do this both in and out of WDW all the time. At WDW they have always given us extra plates no problem. My kids like lots of 'grownup" food so we do like to share with them so they can try other things. We usually do dxdp so if we do not use their credits we just get cs breakfasts for them another time.

We didn't share many meals on our last trip, but are planning to on our next trip to help cut costs. We discovered last time that the adult meals are pretty big and plenty for two. I've even contemplated sharing the meal at 50's PT that has chicken/meatloaf/pot roast with myself and both kids, but I think that's probably going a bit far. Maybe. :scratchin:

My husband and me shared meals all the time. Portions were waaaaayyyy to big for one of us so one portion together was enough. Never any problem with that, CM was always happy to give us another plate/knife/fork whatever. :)

I have never tried with TS. But for CS, yes. My son and I will either share an adult CS meal, or else I will bu each of us a kid's meal.

You should note that some things are worth sharing and some are not. Look through the Disney Food Blog for ideas. A lot of meals are bigger so sharing makes sense (like the plates with half a chicken on them, lol).

CS: no issues whatsoever
Buffets: no, everyone who sits must pay( even if they do not eat)
TS: usually not an issue
Signature dining: might have to play a fee for plate sharing
