How does selling on Amazon compare to selling on Ebay? What have your experiences been? Thanks,
Chrissy

I have a coworker who sells books on Amazon. She picks them up at garage sales for as little as a quarter and sells them for much more. She is always coming in here with a big bag full of books to mail out. She loves it, says it's a great way to make extra cash & easier than ebay. Sorry I don't have more details but it seems to work great for her.

I have been selling books on Amazon for over a year. The commision on Amazon is higer than Ebay but since payments are processed by Amazon you never have to worry about getting your money. The big benefit of Amazon is that you list on there for a long period of time. My books are scholary and it sometimes takes months for them to sell.

I listed some new videos on Amazon and forgot about it until they sent an e-mail that I had made a sale. You are required to meet the time frames for responding and shipping to buyer but it's easier than E-Bay because Amazon does more of the work for you. Good luck.

Could you sell handmade items on Amazon? I was going to do my own website, but I fear I'll never get it all done and I don't want to just toss out the dream. . . .anyone know?

No, you can only sell books, videos, DVDs etc.

I sell books and smaller priced items on Amazon, their commissions are 15% which is pretty high..

They decide the amount of shipping for you also, which can be difficult to work around with some items. Also, they only deposit the money into your bank account once or twice a month, so you can be waiting for your money for 2 weeks, even though you are obligated to ship within 2 business days.

The upside is that they take care of collecting the money for you, which is much easier than messing around with Paypal. They also don't charge a listing fee, so if your item never sells, you don't pay anything.

You can request a transfer at any time. Usually takes about 3 days to hit my bank account.

I  selling books and dvds on Amazon. Yes their fees look higher compared to ebay but when you figure in paypal fees (which you don't have with Amazon) I really don't think the Amazon is any higher. I find it much quicker to list things on Amazon (takes less than a minute!) My items seem to sell much faster and I believe that I have gotten better selling prices on Amazon than I would have on ebay for many items. Plus I love the fact that your items are listed for 60 days at no charge unless they sell!!! And you can adjust your price at any time to help things move faster.

I  Amazon and I wouldn't have known about how great it is if it wasn't for another DISer!
I  the DIS too :teeth:
