Does anyone remember when LeCellier was cafeteria style?

Years ago, LeCellier was a cafeteria style restaurant. You went on a line and picked up the food you wanted. It was fantastic food at great prices. I remember the salmon and the beer cheese soup. I wish they hadn't changed it 'cause I liked it even better then. It was somewhere between CS and TS. Kind of CS prices with TS food. The seating area was the same, and you just picked whatever table was available.

Yes, I remember it very well! It was a nice cool respite from the hot summer sun! The food was generally good and somewhat different from the regular cafeteria fare. I was bummed when it changed, but have grown to really like the "new" place, too.

I thought I was the only one old enough to remember this! Though I think I am the only one who hasn't been there since the changeover. It seems like the old place is never mentioned anymore. :wave2:

Meatball stew and maple syrup pie! We liked it then, but love it now. I had a superb meal there last year. The cheese plate appetizer is amazing!

My DH still calls Le Cellier "that underground cafeteria place"

Thanks for reminiscing with me! :) I miss that place. Sadly, whenever we have a favorite place to dine, TPTB "improve" it.

We loved it there, too. It was a great place to get in and out of when you had kids but wanted real food. I swear the tables weren't crammed in as close as they are now, too!

Don't get me started thinking about all the wonderful places that have been changed over the years. I still miss plain old non-character Crystal Palace. And breakfast with Chip & Dale at Fort WIlderness was THE BEST!

:rotfl: That is how I remember it also. I have not ate there since it changed but we loved the food when it was cafeteria style.

i had totally forgotten about that!!! haven't been there since it changed, either. I remember having an enormous trifle for dessert.

We always used to go there when I was younger...one of the few places my mom would eat (shes picky). She LOVED the black forest cake.

Oh my goodness! Your DH must be related to my DH! That's what he says every trip too! :rotfl:

Loved it then - love it now. (But it is certainly more costly now that it's a sit-down place.)

WE ARE NOT OLD. It hasn't been that long. They gave my hubby and I a free trifle (one of those giant ones) on our honeymoon (in 1994) when they found out we were from Canada.

Yep, I remember it, too. BUT, I also remember my kids getting "spooked out" when we went into that dark, dark, cave! :rotfl:
Needless to say, it wasn't a must-do, although the food was okay.

Yepper - I remember that. I was very skeptical when it changed to a TS.

I remember too :) It wasn't nearly as hard to get into back then. :earsboy:

OT, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses the old Crystal Palace. :sad2:

I'd love to eat at Crystal Palace without the characters! I am not a big character person, especially not winnie the pooh, he just kind of scares me... (sorry!)

I only went to Disney World for a 1 or 2 days twice when I was a teenager, and my mom didn't have a whole lot of money, so no table service or even in park food for us. I'm catching up though now!
