*Start Rant*

Well, it finally happened to me. The first time ever, and it was not a good one. I got pulled over for doing 75 mph in a 45 zone (I didn't know the area). I actually remained calm, told the officer the truth when he asked why he pulled me over... so... he comes back with two tickets:

1. Speeding 75 mph in a 45 zone
2. Failure to use a turn signal as I was being pulled over

Now I don't really blame him for giving me the speeding ticket, but I mean come on with the not using the blinker as he pulled me over. I really cannot believe it... Hopefully this will be the only time it's going to happen since I'm facing about 400 dollars (ouch!) in fines and 4 points on my license. If I was a New York state resident, it would have been 8 points (bigger ouch!)... This has definitely been a learning experience for me...

Anyone else remember their first time being pulled over? What was it for? Did you get a ticket?

Yes, I remember my first time because it was my only time. It was my freshman year in college and I was coming back from going out to lunch with friends and I ran a stop sign. It was right in the middle of the road and I guess I thought it was yield. Well I ran it right in front of a cop. I did get a ticket :(

Yes, I was pulled over for going 50 in a 35 when I was 16 years old. And I was on a date, and we were laughing so hard- I don't think the cop thought it was very funny, and I got my first ever ticket.

And I haven't been pulled over since.

The first time I was pulled over I was 17 and the officer let me know that he watched my back tailight go out. As it worked at one stop sign and was out at the next. No ticket because he had seen it die.

I was pulled over twice. the first time, I got a ticket for doing 75 in a 55 zone. I'd been driving for 25 years and had never been pulled over before. the second time was just a few months later, the officer said I didn't come to a full stop at the stopsign, but he didn't write a ticket.

because you have a speeding ticket you are required to go to court even if you plead guilty, because the court will set the penalty. my suggestion is to plead "not guilty" -- the day you go to court you will be offered a plea bargain, a reduction of the charges. instead of 4 points you'll probably get a charge that carries a 2 point penalty.

That's what I am going to do. Since the ticket was in New York state though, the fines will not be reduced no matter what, but the point values can be seriously reduced in fines. I have a perfect record behind me, so that should only benefit me in court.

The only problem... the court is 400 miles away from my home. It was on a road trip to Niagara Falls for the weekend.

The trip was more than worthwhile though. Absolutely love Niagara Falls, especially at night. Beautiful weekend to go there too!

I love Niagara Falls too! It is gorgeous! My husband can't quit talking about the Italian place we ate at up there.

first time,,, 55 in a 20 mph school zone ( at 7 pm) and running astop sign

2 tickets, then the cop looks at the car i was driving and actually toold me i should have ran,, he couldnt have caught me.

Unfortunately, I've been pulled over more times than I care to remember, but the first time was when I was 17 and was on a date. I was so scared that I started crying, but the cop wasn't sympathetic and gave me a ticket anyway. Shortly thereafter was my introduction to Chuck Rizzo, attorney extraordinaire, who I think had that charge reduced to excessive vehicle noise (which meant no points, obviously).

I have been pulled over twice.

First time I was 17 and going 70 in a 55. To top that off I was rushing because I had left my purse at my friends house so I had turned around and was rushing back to get it. Well, I explained and he followed me to my friends house and gave me a ticket in their driveway. He only gave me a ticket for going 5 over and a long lecture about how he could have taken me to jail for not having my license with me. I cried.

2nd time. Again, I cried. My son was crying in the back seat and frankly I was so frazzled I wasnt paying attention. I was pulled over doing 45 in a 20 school zone. However, in the state of washington the school zones only 20 when children are present. The children were behind the school and I couldnt see them until I passed the building and then I did slow down but too late. I had my license ready, I told him it was totally my fault, baby was screaming in the back seat and he just said okay, slow down. Didnt even look at my license! I NEVER speed in a school zone and it was totally an accident so I was very grateful!

:smooth: some old lady was driving to slow for my liking so I passed her on a yellow line.. I never saw the cop but he saw the whole thing. it was 10 days after I got my license. The worst part was the old lady stopped as she drove up and thanked the cop. I did all I could from saying somethning that would of got me in more trouble.

I remember the first time I was pulled over like it was yesterday, I guess some things stay with you! I was driving my Father's car and the inspection sticker was expired - I was 16 and had no idea... My dad felt bad though and paid the fine :)

I've gotten pulled over many times but never gotten a ticket..I used to work 7pm-3am and on the way home I would come onto the highway by a very popular rock club and I would be pulled over at least once a week by cops thinking I just came out of that club and them thinking they would get me on a DWI....I got pulled over 2 nights in a row by the same cop..when he came up to the car on the second night he just said "oh, its you again, have a good night"...and other time I got pulled over for having a brake light out, he just told me to get it fixed....

OUCH! Sorry that happened on your way to vacation. :guilty: My first time happened when I was 19. I was driving in my dad's big powerful car, trying to impress my boyfriend. I was passing a semi truck on the highway going 73 in a 55.

  • Taillight out in dad's car
  • Speeding going 50 in a 35 -- in another state and didn't know
  • Speeding, going 70 in a 55 (Guess "I can't drive 55")
  • Expired registration in DH's car -- didn't know
  • Expired registration in my own car

The last incident was actually pretty bad. The registration expired while my mother was in the hospital near death and I just plain didn't know. We went through pure hell with my mom and everything else in my life went by the wayside. The cop that pulled me over treated me like dirt that day -- and this is a small town where, in general, the police are very well liked... except this guy. Then after all his berating me and making me feel like the lowest of the low, he let me off with a warning.

I'd rather have had the book thrown at me than go through that kind of treatment again.

The first time I got pulled over for going 65 in a 55 and was told to slow down so no ticket. I was 19 yrs old.

The second time I was stopped going 75 in a 55 but I was on the way to the hospital where my our son was due to a horrible automobile accident in West Virginia. The police let us go after he radioed in and found out we were telling the truth. That was 15 years ago.

Gee wiz, yes. First time, 15, with learner's permit (Mom was in passenger seat). I was at a fairly busy intersection. I was going to make a right hand turn. Light turned green and I didn't see it quick enough for the person behind me. They honked (which drew the policeman's attention). He pulled me over to make sure I had a license of some sorts. No ticket, he was real nice.

My first and only ticket, I was doing 45 in a 30 at 3:30 a.m., coming home from work. I was crying because I had never had a ticket and didn't want one. Didn't help, he wrote me one anyway.

OT_I remember telling an officer once, he had a tail light out. I was trying to be helpful, he didn't seem to appreciate it. Had it been my car, I think I would had been given at least a warning, possibly a ticket.

I recently got pulled over for the first time. I went to Shreveport, LA for work a few months ago. Shreveport is in northern Louisiana and I had never been there before. After my deposition, I got back on the interstate to go home and didn't realize the interstate speed limit in the city was 60mph...I was going the normal 70mph and got pulled over. I wasn't on the interstate 5 minutes before I got pulled over! The cop was really nice...obviously flirting with me. He didn't even ask for my registration or insurance...just my license! He ended up giving me a ticket for "no seatbelt" ($25) instead of the speeding ticket. :cool1:
