I was just thinking about the AP rate I received for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. $164 per night Standard view room April 3rd - 6th. I was curious what the rack rate was for this room and it is $275 per night.

I did the math to see the percentage of savings I was receiving from the AP discount. To my surprise I'm saving 40% off rack rate. :scared1: I didn't even have a PIN or anything, I just used the AP code.

Has anyone else been able to secure this rate at AKL, or get 40% off using the AP code at another deluxe?

We got the WL Woods View for $184.00 a night (rack rate is $295.00...so $111.00 off per night) and I think that works out to be about 38% off. :goodvibes

But I have seen that the dicounts for some of the other deluxe resorts weren't as much...only about $91.00 off a night. (Poly and GF and the Epcot resorts)

We only got a little over 20% off using the ap discount for the GF, so you got a great discount!

I just got the same rate at the AKL for April 29th to May 2nd, for my 32nd birthday trip. WOOHOO! We have wanted to stay there for a long time, but being FL residents and AP holders we just never wanted to pay the normal rates for a deluxe resort. I can't wait!

Gee, when AKL opened we paid $129 for a FL resident and were upgraded to a perfect Savannah room...those were the days :)

Glad you got a great rate!!!

I know, we are kicking ourselves for not taking advantage when it opened. Here's hoping I might get an upgrade for my birthday. Not counting on it though. ;)

I got it too for 5/20-5/22. And I'm moving on to the Dolphin for the rest of the Memorial Day weekend for $169 a night so my trip is turning out to be super cheap! :goodvibes

I was hoping that the 40% off would be for all resorts because I wanted to surprise DD16 with a GF stay but the rates there were definitely not 40% off.

I did the math a different way. Looks like the breakeven point for considering purchasing an adult AP for the first time - only using AKL and rates quoted above ($164 vs. $275) - equates to a stay of 5 days or more. (For 4 nights, it'd cost $34 more so you might consider that if you know you'll be at Disney another time in the next year.) Of course, if you already have the AP, then it's all GRAVY! :yay:

thanks for posting this info! I"m only staying at AKL 4 nights so I'd have to spend $34 more... and I don't plan to return to WDW in the next 12 months after this trip. (Yes I understand that there are other benefits of holding an AP but, that's ok!)

Congrats. to you, that's a nice savings. Poly garden-view AP discount is a bit under 25% (rack = $399, AP rate = $308).

Our room rack rate is $670 per night; AP discount is getting us the same room for $579 per night. A difference of $91, which is approximately a 14% discount. Ah well, I'll take it. lol It's a little better than the AAA discount that I had.

P.S. Hi Aaron!! :wave2:

Isn't it peculiar that the Poly AP discount is a flat $91 (see my post above yours)? Both your lagoon-view concierge and our garden-view non-concierge got the same dollar-amount off-- and not a % off. They have quite different rack rates.

I agree that it's at least better than the AAA rate (I had that before this current AP code came out):surfweb:.

Yes I noticed the savings could be up to $111 a night at a delux resort. Of course, there are still the many complaints on the boards about this last release. As always the AP discount is good, but flexibility is always the key to getting the best deal. I didn't have to use a discount for my spring trip as I stuck to my DVC points for that. Sometimes I still use the discount for my rooms (since we go often and sometimes I like to save my points). I try to keep close tabs to what the going rate is.

ok, I am new at this, what is an AP code and how do you get one??

I have no idea how to get codes like you all are!!!!!!!!!
HELP!

An AP code is an Annual Passholders code. They are good if you have an Annual Pass only. There are new ones released every month or so I think. I live in FL so I have had AP's for years now, it works for us. In fact we are driving in to Epcot on Monday for just the day. I love living here. LOL!

Would one be able to save any money over booking a rack rate package if they got one AP and booked a package with the AP rate? :confused3
The package would be 2 adults one 7 year old, 6 nights with DDP.

Yes, one AP in your party would qualify you for the AP room-only discounts and AP package discounts.
