Does anyone pay rack rates?

Isn't the only way to get the Dining plan to pay for rack rate ... ya know, a package?
Tell me if I am wrong please

I booked through AAA for our recent trip and got the AAA discount only to drop it and pay rack rate when Disney offered the free dining package at the beginning of October so it was worth it to pay rack rate for us. We forfeited $100.00 discount with AAA to stay at All Star Sports and got over $1500.00 in food so major savings at rack rates!!!

You have to book a package to get the dining plan but you don't have to pay rack rates. Disney will apply AAA and other discounts (only 1 discount can be applied) to a package plan and discount will come off of the room portion of the package price so you can still save. Others also play with the numbers and book a package with only a 1 day pass (so they qualify for packages) and purchase the remainder of the stay passes from discounters or using AP rates or other means to lower the cost. Sometimes a lot of # crunching but it can be worth it.

Hey cambra, lighten up ... I was just teasing. And I'm not "stalking" your posts either, I only read your threads because I am debating between POFQ and AKL myself. I just thought it was funny that you started out concerned about the money you'd be spending and whether it was worth it to pay more for AKL. Then when you decided it would be, how you could get a savannah view while paying for a standard. And now you're looking at the Poly ... one of the most expensive there is. Anyhow, sorry if I offended you!

I booked in May for December '05 at Wilderness Lodge. I booked our family into a standard view room at $199 per night.

Lo and behold, but in early October, I get an email with a PIN code for the same time period. I called and CRO couldn't apply to current room ressie, however, they could put us in a Courtyard View room for $5 a night less than what we were going to pay for a standard view, so I took it.

We would have stayed at WL at rack rate even if there had not been a PIN discount room rate for us.

I have a trip scheduled for March 18-25 at POFQ that is a package through Disney Travel. I am hoping that I can get a code or someway to reduce the price. I've never done that but after reading this site I'm sure I'm paying more then I need to be!! It would be great if we could go to Disney more because we figured out a way to pay less!!! :earboy2:

There is a code out right now that expires on March 8, bummer. We want to come in on March 8, but watch the DIS BOARDS, sometimes discounts come out in November for rates March-May.

Yup...very rarely do they give discounts at the GF...especially concierge, so until they do, we will be paying rack rate.

HUH???? I've stayed at GF plenty of times and believe me, the ONLY way I can afford it is through AP discounts including concierge, or codes. I've been to Disney at least 40 times, and have never paid rack rate. I, too, was a member of the old "Magic Kingdom Club" . May we have a minute of silence, please, in respect for a much-missed superior plan? So, I'm used to discounts on rooms. When the MK Club died, I really began to utilize the AP discounts, and have been doing so ever since. It's kinda like shopping for bargains. You can either run to the store and purchase items at full price, or wait until the sales. I prefer the sales!
