What are your favorite things to make in it??? Recipes??

I usually throw in a handful of grapes, few hunks of watermelon, 1/2 of an orange, pineapple juice, a banana, few strawberries, handful of blueberries, some baby carrots, plain yogurt, honey and ice! Awesome fruit smoothie my boys LOVE!

do you have one of the newer ones or one of the older ones (where the container is also made of metal)? i ask because these suckers last forever.

we have one of the old ones, it was mil's and we were given it at least 15 years ago after dh's memory was triggered when we saw a demonstration at a county fair. he was blown away to see that they were using plastic containers now and mentioned it to his mom (never remotely thinking she had the one from his childhood still hanging around let alone the little cookbook that came with it).

we've honestly never used it much but dh clearly remembers his mom making hot broths, ice cream and nut butters with it, as well as grinding wheat into flour.

it's an amazing machine-and we can still get the rubber seals from vitamix for it:thumbsup2

after we got his mom's home dh saw another demo of the newer ones and when he mentioned to the demonstrator that we had the old metal one he was told that vitamix will take these back and give a significant credit towards the newer ones. there's no way we would do it-the thing is still in excellent working order and with the metal container the degree of accuracy to which it reaches the heating and freezing modes is amazing.

i need to pull it out where it will be more handy-i know it takes the place of multiple appliances.

I love my Vitamix! We have the newer plastic one bought about 10 years ago. They are extremely expensive but they truly are an amazing appliance. I go thru spurts of using it. I always get back into it when our fair comes every September. Gets me in the mood again! :thumbsup2 I've never made soup in mine, only ice cream and fruit smoothies. I'm going to try to find more recipes out there for it.

I bought mine at a garage sale for $10.00, had no idea what it was worth but it does make the best margaritis and other frozen drinks!!!
