I have a umbrella stroller for DD, but it only has the lap belt and she has been leaning forward and grabbing the wheels. We were in the mall last weekend and she did this. She grabbed the front wheels so hard and so quick that it came to a complete stop while DH was pushing her. Needless to say DH almost went over the stroller head first.

I looked on Wal mart's website and found these....

Cosco Soria Stroller
Cosco Accent Stroller

I also saw that they had one that has Mickey & Pals on it {like the Disney Princess one}, but I like that idea that the other ones have like a snack try that is in front of the seat to make sure that she can't bend over and grab the wheels incase she just might get out of the harness.

If anyone has one of the Cosco's mentioned above, is it easy to fold up? Does the snack try have to come off? Any advice would be apperciated about the strollers.

i don't know how old your child is - but sounds like you need a five point harness on your stroller.... have you tried the chicco caddy... very lightweight - five point harness, comes w/ a carry strap, canopy & rain cover - about $50....

I agree....I have the Chicco Caddy, I love it. It doesn't have a basket though but I've had mine since my sone was just under 1 and it's going strong. It's easy to fold and light to carry and the most important thing was that it reclined most of the way down so he was comfortable. I've had alot of comprable(sp?) strollers and even though they have the convenience of the tray and basket, they were had to push and turn. I wish I had the Caddy when my DD was little!!

HTH!

I have to agree with the other two posters. The Chicco Caddy is a great stroller and trust me you want the five point harness. My DS was escaping from his stroller with the three point harness and as soon as I got the five point he could not get out. My Chicco Caddy has gone to Italy, Busch Gardens and WDW. We love it. I bought a mesh stroller bag for t he back which has worked great for holding things.

I also have the Caddy for our 2 yr old son. Problem is that even if he's strapped in, he's learned that he can put his feet on the wheels and make it stop or hard to push. He thinks its funny too. As for accessories-I bought a mesh bag that is great (expands to hold a lot), and some clip on cup and snack holders. Also, Im 5'10" and the caddy is a little on the low side for me to push, and I sometimes hit the wheels while walking. Otherwise'its a great stroller. The problem with a stroller that has the snack tray in front is that if you will be taking your older/larger child in and out a lot, its a real pain.

Thanks to everyone!!! :wave2:

I wish I could get the stroller that you all have recommened, but DH has put me on a budget for one and it has to be under $30.

The one I already have, I bought about 4 months ago and wish I would have waited.

DD is 4, 5 on the 19th. But she is short for her age. I would say the height of a 2 year old, maybe a little shorter, and weighs anywhere between 35-37 pounds. So the snack tray wouldn't be a problem getting her in and out unless she accidently on purpose catchs her feet on it. LOL!!!

If you're stuck w/ strollers that are <$30, you may as well not bother, unless you can get a used one at a consignment store.

That said, I've retrofitted many strollers to change the harness to 5 pt. It's pretty easy if you can sew at all:

You need 1.5 yds. of 1" polyethylene webbing, 2 1" plastic snap buckles, and 2 1" plastic strap adjustor slides. All available at your local fabric store. It should cost you no more than $10.

Put your child in your stroller, and use chalk to mark the outline of her neck on the upholstery, on both sides down the side of her neck and out onto her shoulders. (You can let her out after you mark it!) Make an X on each side approx. 3 inches above the shoulder line and 2 inches out from the neck on either side. These X's will be the anchor points for the shoulder straps.

To keep the webbing from fraying after you cut it, you can either coat it with a product like Fray-Chek, or pass the cut end through a flame until it melts just slightly; do not let it catch fire!

Cut 2 pieces of webbing 6 inches long, fray-stop the edges, then double the pieces through the female ends of your two buckles.
Sew the doubled ends together, first at the cut ends, then 1.5 inches in from the ends. Slip them onto either side of the waist strap, facing up.

Using the remaining webbing, fray-stop the ends, then thread a slide onto each end, and push it up a ft. or so. Next, put a male buckle piece onto each end, threading it fully for adjustment. Take each loose end and feed it back up into the slide on that end, double it over through the second slot, and sew the end down. You now should have a long long strap with a length adjustment and a buckle tongue on either end. Adjust it evenly, and cut it in half. Fray-stop the cut ends, then double them over 2 inches and sew them firmly onto the X's marked onto the back of the stroller, so that the buckles dangle down. Obviously, the ends will buckle into the female buckles you have added to the waist strap.

There is a little growth room built into this plan, but if your child eventually gets too tall and still needs the harness, just unpick the top straps on the stroller back, reposition them higher and wider, and sew them down again as before. Then you can let out the length with the buckle slides and the fit will be good again.

Definetely try the consignment stores. I got an Aprica at one that was my WDW stroller until DD outgrew it. It was originally around$ 400 and I got it for $30. Good luck!

Also try to look on ebay. Some people will auction off gently used strollers at a great price, or you might find a new one at an affordable price. I was having the same problem with my DD being too tall for her umbrella strollers and bending down and touching the wheels also. The worst part was when she was wearing sandles and kept kicking her feet on the wheels! It was driving us crazy:crazy: My DH did not want me to buy another stroller since we have so many that she does not use anymore, but I convinced him to let me get a Maclaren Volo at strollers4less.com for under $80.00 with free shipping. We got the red poppy color and it is the best little 8 pound stroller we have ever owned. My daughter loves it and she is very tall and can not touch the wheels with her feet. It also has a 5 point harness too. Just tell your DH that you could spend the money on a few cheaper strollers that will not hold up, compared to a Volo that you could get for under $80.00. Ebay also has some new 2004 Volo's under $80.00 also, but with strollers4less.com you get the free shipping!!! Good Luck, and if you decide on the Volo, your DD will be so comfortable, and you will love the the way it pushes. The best money we have spent in a long time, and we have heard from many people that their kids are 5 and 6 years old and can still fit comfortably in the Volo and the parents can still push it with no problems!!!:wave2:

I think both of those look great! They have all the WDW neccessities and you cant beat the price!

I have one that is probably the great grandparent model under the Century label. Its been to WDW 5 times and still going!

I have a 3 year old. I had one of those carriages that comes with the carseat. It was to big to travel on the buses and tram in Disney so I went to Sears and bought a stroller. It's not as big as that carriage but it's not as small as a umbrella stroller Removable snack tray with detachable toys
It reclines, has a canopy and large storage basket. When I got home I throw that big huge carriage down in the basement and never looked at it again and I only use the little carriage

I use the tray when he's snacking and it's off when he's in the mood to walk (this way he can jump in and out when he's wants). I have no problems with him leaning now when I did I'd just put the tray on. When the tray is off I throw it under the stroller it's very roomy under there. lol

Oh most important 1 or 2 hand pushing and 1 hand folding. Always need that other hand to hold on to the kid lol.

oh this is important to lol it hides dirt lol

I don't know how to send a link in here but I'll try lol

I just bought a Chicco stroller today, the Chicco Tuscany stroller. I was going to buy the Chicco Caddy which was $50, but when I saw the Tuscany, I put DD in it and it seemed even better. It has 5 recline positions and the footrest is adjustable, you can put it all the way down or have it all the way up so that the child's feet don't dangle while they sleep. big plus! Because the big Graco stroller we have now (part of a travel system) doesn't have that and I always feel bad when DD falls asleep and her feet dangle off awkwardly. I know I wouldn't feel comfortable if it was me!

The Tuscany folds up like an umbrella stroller, it has a nice canopy and it also has a basket underneath. Not a big basket, but big enough, I think. It was quite pricey $80, but I thought it would be a good investment. We plan on using this with our next child, whenever that happens:p It looks very sturdy and it's easy to maneuver. I checked on Babiesrus.com and the review were all excellent! The seat is also padded better than the Caddy.

I think those out there should be aware that Chicco has 2 different Caddy strollers, one w/ a basket and one without because I saw one Caddy at Burlington w/o the basket. Then went to Babies R Us and saw the Caddy w/ the basket. Both were $50!

I've rambled on enough, but I really like the Tuscany. Here's the link to the Amazon/Babies R Us site for it: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...2002226/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_3/002-7128028-4267223

Good luck!

I have a Cosco one, I think it was the Juvenille something. It came from walmart and was about $25. It isn't fancy, but it does fold well, it has a tray with cupholder in front of the child, a tray with two cupholders at the top, and a basket underneath. It only has a lap seatbelt though, but with the tray, my ds does fine. It's been great for us!

Just purchased the Chicco "Capri" stroller at babies r us ($49.99)- SAME EXACT AS the Chicco Caddy- same price, but the Capri has a basket underneath!

My daughter is 5 and we needed a new lightweight stroller for disney trip this year (still cheaper than renting) and the weight limit says 37lbs, but she seems fine in it-

Looks like a great choice for a lightweight umbrella style stroller!
