Does anyone own a Wishblade?

I have one ordered for my mother (but it is not too early to back out ) why will she love it? Christmas falls right before her birthday, so I usually get her a "big" gift - something she wants but would never buy for herself.

Also, is it good to go outside of the box? Is there anything (other than a computer ) that I will need to get so she is good to go on Christmas Day?

I love mine and I think my mom really wants it too. So, I think that's a great gift!!!

It comes with everything, you may want an extra cutting mat and blade. The blades are supposed to last a year, but it would be good to have an extra on hand. Not imperative, though.

There is a Yahoo users group where you can download files that people have made and get tutorials fo different stuff. PM me if you want the link for that.

It's teh Advanced, right? You can download fun fonts for your mom if she wants. Anything you can do in Word can be sent directly to the Wishblade. It may be nice to have a drawing program, not mandatory.

You may want to join the users group and ask them this question, as I've mainly done letters, because I have not had teh time to play with it that I'd like.

So this is not limited to fonts, it can cut out pictures and things she has downloaded, right? Then slip it into the good old Xyron 1200 and scrap away. Is it that easy?

The wishblade boards talked way over my head, so I am trying to get an idea what it will do for her.

Yes, it can cut pictures. You can do some drawing in the Wishblade program, you can import *emf files into teh WIshblade program, you can also import *wmf files from drawing programs (Cad or others) into Word and go from there. You just tell it what color line you are cutting. Very slick.

Sorry to barge in but I'm confused. When I was going to order the Wishblade a few months ago, I was told that there is no longer a basic or advanced, there is just one type now. And that they "fixed" the part that would let you use any TTF - that you could only use their fonts (which are pretty expensive). So I didn't order it. Did something change that now it will cut any ttf? Thanks for any info!

Now that you mention it, I recall tehn making only one. I could have sworn that they were all like the advanced now. I'll see if I can dig an more up!

Last thing. I just checked their website and it says you can use your ownn designs. There was a cheaper version that Xyron came out with where you have to use their stuff, though. That may be where the confusion came from.

Believe it or not, I received one for Christmas last year & because of a recent move, it hasn't been set up YET...but will be soon, as now I have a room dedicated to crafting. Thanks for the tips on the wishblade forum I will be checking that out soon
