Do you just leave it to chance? I have been to WDW several times, and have never requested location of my room. I have always been pretty happy. I just feel like there is so much other planning to do. I sometimes just get sick of calling! We are staying at Pop in 22 days, and I am wondering should I try to request locations of my room, or just leave it to chance again? Do they always honor requests or is it just pot luck?

We didn't request an exact room but when we were checking into POR they were going to put us in a mansion room and we had wanted a trundle bed. When I pointed this out we were quickly changed to a room that had a trundle bed.

From what I understand they will try to honor requests but cannot guarantee it. :earsboy:

When I was checking in sometimes I asked the location. If I didn't want that area I would request another area.

No need to call. Just have your requests put in your reservation.

They are just requests.

I've never requested a location. I have never been disappointed in my location.

Other than requesting non smoking I have never requested anything. We see where they put us when we check in and if we don't like it ask if there is something else. We have never been disapointed in a room.

I don't think it necessary to plan, read maps, study guide books, and try and figure out exactly what room you want ahead of time. That said, I would never (and this isn't just a Disney thing) check into a hotel and just take a room without asking for something. It only takes three seconds to ask, "Do you have anything available with a nice view?" Or ask for a quiet room, or a short walk to the elevator, or whatever one thing is important to you. It takes no effort and you'll almost always be better off than if you don't ask.

To be honest, I think people (and this includes me) often over-research. Instead of asking people on the internet which building is closest to the lake, so you can request that building, you can save a lot of hassle by just requesting "building closest to lake".

I don't think my parents every requested a room location. We always used to stay at the Poly and I don't think there's a bad room there anyway.

For my trip next october, I booked through AAA. my TA asked if I wanted to request a building location and I requested Fiji. I don't particularly care which building we end up in but I figured since she asked......

She also asked if I wanted to request a king-non smoking room. Which I also agreed to. I didn't know that the Poly had king rooms but I figured since there's just going to be 2 of us, no need taking up 2 beds (unless DBF ticks me off...that is...hehe...just kidding. I would never do that)

We have never requested a specific room location (unless you count booking the preferred section but we pay for that.) I guess that since we have always had a room we were very happy with it isn't something that we have thought of doing. Maybe if we had been dissapointed with our room location I would start requesting more.

When we stayed at ASMu and POP, I requested a king bed and non-smoking. We are staying at CSR in just 15 days! I booked a king and requested non-smoking because we both have asthma. Other than that, I have no requests. Maggie

Im leaving it up to chance for the most part. I did make one request with my TA about making sure it was a non smoking room since the sweetpea has asthma. But other than that, we will see what happens when I get threre in the morning. Of course though, I will see where they put me before I agree to the room. We dont have a real preference though. We are basically easy going and as long as the room is clean and smoke free, we will be happy. Besides, we dont plan on staying in the room all the much anyways. :)

In all the many times we stayed at WDW resorts, I never made any type of special request. I was never disappointed. I always felt that if I set my expectations for something special, I might be disappointed. Going in with nothing particular in mind, I was always pleasantly surprised!

I usually do not make any requests except non-smoking since DS has pretty severe allergies. The one time I made a request I was so disappointed because I was told at check in that they had all been met but I'd have to wait for my room since it wasn't ready. I was all good with that until I got back to the room and found that none of my requests were met. So, I went back to no requests other than the non-smoking and have never had any problems with the exception of a non-smoking that had been smoked in.

The only consistant request we make is non-smoking, and we've always gotten it (15+ trips).

Only twice did I go beyond that. I had two trips (Dec 1999 & Feb 2000) planned after foot surgery and requested at the reservation time AND faxed a request to be near the check in areas of the Poly and DxL. The Poly we were right next to the main building. At DxL we were waayyyy out away from anything. ::MickeyMo

This is what we do. It is always fun to try new locations.

We requested a room location last year and this year. Last year at POP we wanted the 50's section. We got it, great room with pool view. This year I requested Building #4 at POFQ, I'll find out soon if we get it. 8 days!!! :Pinkbounc

Never had a room location request..It's fun to see where your room will be when you get there :sunny:

We pretty much leave it up to chance at the Polynesian except we do request nonsmoking (bad asthma) and first floor. We've never been disappointed.

At BCV I am a little more specific with regards to view in our request...but not too much so. Anything on the whole Epcot side is great with us. :cool1:
