Is there anyone that does not plan any activities or what park to visit which day etc....Do you just show up and do whatever feels right at the time?

:)

Sorry Studog - just always wanted to answer a question with a simple yes or no! :hyper:

As you can probably figure out - I do live an hour away. We go quite often and rarely plan anything, with the exception of which park we will attend.

Of course, I am also not planning my "once a year vacation" to WDW either. I can understand the apprehension and worry people go through. Everybody wants to go, get the MOST out of it and enjoy, but with that comes added stress.

Concern about crowds, weather, cheerleaders, foreign tour groups, experiencing everything etc. We arrive, we do what we want, and have a fantastic time.

There is NOTHING better than being able to stop and smell the roses, so to speak, at WDW. Soak in the atmosphere, notice the small details, find that quiet little spot to call your own. It is very nice!

Have fun!

I do a minimal amount of planning. On our last trip I wanted to be super organized and have all my ducks in a row so I could see EVERYTHING, but I am just not that type of person. I made a point of knowing the hours of the parks and which rides/attractions would be closed, but that was about it. I know I wanted to eat the Garden Grill and that I wanted to do the Fantasmic dinner package, but I didn't make ressie's until I was in my hotel room.

I am not the uber-planner. I drive myself (and DH) nuts when I try to seriously organize and plan the details to death. We move at a slower pace and I think we enjoy the experience more because of that. Missing something just gives me a reason to go back (as if I need one)!

After quite a few trips to WDW, we now take a less intense approach to our visits....maybe a PS, but that is about it. We're not stressed to see everything, and tend to visit our favs and then see what happens. And wow - it actually seems like a vacation! (The first few years we needed a vacation from vacation!)

I do very little planning. I generally decide which park I want to go to as I am driving in the morning, make no PSs (except for the CP dinner package) and just play it by ear. Of course, I think it does make a difference if you have been there a lot - I've been there 7 times in just the past two years and each trip was at least a week. Therefore, I have lots of time to stop and smell the roses and if I don't get to do something, it's not a big deal.

I thought planning was half the fun. What do you do to build the excitement and pass the time if you don't really plan?

Commando planner here, so much so, DH insists I start a new board: DBA for DISboards Anonymous. For us, however, this is a once every few years trip, so we do need to make the best of it. It also doesn't help that I love to plan. I have realy enjoyed, albeit stressed sometimes, planning this vacation. I know I got a great deal on POR (postcard), and passes, and I know when we leave I will have 2 happy boys who were able to see and do exactly what they wanted.

I give kudos to those who can just show up and go with the flow, it's just not in my nature.

Have a great trip.

WE do make a couple of PSs (princess bf) other than that, we do whatever, whenever.

Oops, I lied, we do sometimes plan nto de early entry, but that is usually the night before.
No schedeuling though.

That would be an accurate description of me. :)

I do very little planning. I have one PS for breakfast at the Crystal Palace next Wednesday. We wing it and it works great for us. We've been many times and do not feel the need to over think it.

Have fun!

Yup! "non planners" here too.

We like to wake up & do what we "feel" like. We've been to WDW tons & will be back "tons". If we miss something, so what! It'll still be there!!

Yes! I do some minor planning like what park I will most likely be at that particular day but that’s the most of it. I found that even the PSs are more annoying as we always wanted to do something ales at that time therefore we just wing it. Found that this was the best way to vacation a long time ago! Just do what you feel like not what your schedule tells you to do!

With the exception of PS for certain restaurants, we don't really plan. We decide on which park the night before, and get up early and are in the park by open or a little later. Leave around 1 to head back to the hotel for a rest, then dinner and back to the parks! That's the plan. No order to the rides, except we must do POTC first in MK, and all "big" rides we try to do earlier rather than later in the day.

But my family doesn't have any young kids to consider. Once there are little ones, planning will become more important.

We just show up now. I used to be of those that would open and close the park. Through lots of therapy, I now can go to Disney, relax and enjoy myself. It seems I now go primarily to swim, read and eat, I love the Disney restaurants.

The way that we "plan" our trips go as follows:

for May - get there Thursday night - Fri, Sat, Sun - Star Wars at MGM!, Mon - some park, home

for summer trip - get together 2 weeks before with wipeboard and plan out what parks on what days - usually includes several references to words like chafing and sunburn and lots of question marks. Really, just a general idea to make sure we have enough days on the passes of non AP people

for winter trip - plan was to take the first bus that showed up in the morning. Worked quite well and was a good "plan" to have. Needed to have at least that or we would have spent entire trip in bed reading!

I spend the entire time between trips planning. That's what keeps me happy while I'm waiting for the next trip. I plan, and replan, each and every day.

Now, you didn't ask if we stick to the plan. The answer to that would be...no! :p When we get there, we do whatever feels right at the time. We stick to a couple of scheduled PS's, and we tend to follow more of a plan at MK because it's always so crowded, but that's it. We only refer to all those plans I made when trying to decide what we feel like doing next.

So why do I spend all that time planning if we're not going to follow the plans? Because it's fun!! :bounce:

We plan meals that will require PS, but that's about it. My wife and I talk about what we want to do, but we don't sit down and plan the whole trip.

The only planning we usually do is finding out what the park hours are ahead of time and which days are early entry for which parks. Once we get there though, we'll just do whatever feels right... I believe in just relaxing and enjoying ourselves!
