Does anyone not opt for the Park Hopper option?

I don't park hop because with a 2 year old and my schedule we take shorter trips. With shorter trips we don't need so much flexibility, it makes the hopper not worth it $$$ wise and its just too hard to park hop. I pick the parks based on the best days and then make all ADR's around which days in which parks. We must return to the hotel for DS's nap anyway. In the evening we either go back to the park we were at in the morning for dinner and then a bit more touring or if it closes early we do ADR at another hotel or DTD. I have a touring plan for our trips but we don't do commando with a small child in tow. If we hopped (after nap getting to a new park for dinner at 4:30 or 5:00) we'd have very little time in the second park anyway so its just not worth it. And besides I like to pick up a FP before we leave the morning park for DS's nap and going back to the same park I can use it.

I can see where hoppers would give good flexibility for longer trips or with older kids who can stay in the parks much later or who want to use EMH at night but this isn't our family at this point in time.

I think we must have short attention spans because we hop like mad!!! :Pinkbounc

Same here!!! But we generally start later, and hop in the evening. We also don't do plan too much because we've been there so much every day is sort of a 'what do you feel like doing?' day. We generaly hit a park, and if it's too crowded, we hop to another.

I am amazed when i read peoples trip reports and see how much hopping they do. This past April was my first disney trip and we did not hop. Where do people get all of these hours in the day to do everything. On our return trip in March we will not be hopping. There is so much that we missed at every park last time I know we will still not be able to fit everything in. Maybe when my kids are older we will hop but i doubt it - it seems like that money could be put to better use on Disney souveniors. :Pinkbounc

My friend calls the EMH a scam to sell more park hopper options. I think she may be right. Many folks like to go to the early hours, take a break and return to the park that has EMH at night. Can't do that without park hoppers.

Ooooh!!! I never thought of it that way ... smart on Disney's part!!!

We always get the hopper option ... I LOVE it!!! But for the OP, I think you did the right thing for your situation! Have fun!!

We had it last time (but didn't pay extra, because they were conference tickets) and didn't use them. This time we didn't buy them, and figure we can always add them there if we need them, but we can't take them off if we don't use them. I am guessing that if we decide we would like to park hop, we will look at the $240 and decide it isn't worth it for our family.
