Going with my two sisters for a sisters only weekend in December. Doing MVMCP on the 9th. Made ADR for Tony's for that evening before the party. We have all done LTT and Crystal Palace and wanted to try somewhere new....none of us have ever been to Tony's. Not going to lie....the reviews on these boards are making me want ot change our ADR. Does anyone have another suggestion or should we just stick it out and form our own opinion?? Thanks in advance for all your help!

Hi Christine,

I'd strongly urge you to try it and form your own opinion. If you've seen the menu and you like the menu, give it a try! Everyone's taste is different!

My family really liked Tony's. In fact, it is the only place the boys want to eat when we go to WDW.

We've been there, and I'd give it a try unless you are very picky about your Italian food or would be happier dining with characters. We had good, but not remarkable, food at Tony's. Another non-character, table service option is the Plaza on Main St.

I am going to MVMCP on the 9th too :)
I have been to Tony's before and I liked it and would go again!
But I agree that with this and everything else, you should always go try it yourself and form your own opinion.

We are in roughly the same predicament - scared off by some of the reviews, not heartily impressed by the menu selections, but wanting to try something new. I've heard from others who've gone, that they thoroughly enjoyed the themed atmosphere, which is making me very curious. Never thought it was themed, and if this is true, would be worthwhile to check out.

We've been to Tony's many times and have not had one bad meal. I've even ordered things that weren't on the menu & they have made it for me without a problem. We've always had nice servers as well.

I had also read many bad reviews about Tony's, but decided to give it a try nonetheless, and I'm glad I did! We always try to fit in a lunch or dinner at Tony's during each trip :)

We ate there for lunch on our last day and it wasn't bad. I certainly scored Liberty Tree Tavern far worse for its Stoffers food and high salt content. Some things were too salty to eat. I made the manager take a bite of my grits and I thought he was going to spit them right back on the plate it was so bad. It was a fine meal. A B- in my book. Not many of the places in MK are high on the fine quality food scale. The best is CRT for dinner.

I was there a couple of years ago when it was sponsored by Contadina and enjoyed it - not great, but I would certainly go back (not a lot of options in the MK anyway.) Don't know if it still is. I was told by a co-worker that there is a new chef and menu.

My sister & I ate at Tony's last dec, we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere
was great, we both got spaghetti in honor of my late husband who used to make spaghetti for us when we got together. Try it and judge for yourself

We've been to Tony's many times for both lunch and dinner and have nver had anything bad. Take the reviews with a grain of salt, both good and bad. Go and form your own opinon. If you do change your mind you may want to go to one of the close by hotels. Citricos is our favorite. Maine :firefight

I had read the poor reviews but we decided to try it anyway for lunch. It was the worst food we had the entire trip and we were on the gold plan so we had 3 ts meals a day. One of my kids started to cry when we told him to finish his lunch and another one flat out refused to eat it. They are not picky kids. They eat anything, salad, veggies, any kind of meat, etc. Granted this was Dec 2003, so maybe it's better now. Even my husband hated it and he is not picky at all. We also ate lunch at Alfredo's and the food was okay, not amazing, but okay. The only place that had really, really good Italian that we tried, was PYC in Pleasure Island. That was really good food and awesome service too.

I did recently look at the menu for Tony's on allearsnet and it seems pretty different. For example they no longer have this breaded goat chesse app. that my DS gagged on and spit into a napkin. ;)

We decided to give Tony's a try last week. Honestly I didn't think the food was bad but it was the worst service ever. We waited over an hour for the main course! :confused3

I was kind of going with the mode to form our own opinion but all of you have given me the push.......I feel so much better I asked you all!!! I'm an Italian girl who makes sauce/gravy every Sunday soooo I definitely am not going with the thought of having great Italian food ;) . I really just want to try somewhere we've never been to help celebrate my sister's 40th and enjoy some sisterly alone time!!

Pongoperdigirl......Maybe I'll see you at the party.....I'll be the one enjoying some quiet/relaxing/having a ball time away from my kids and DH......love them to death but am looking forward to time with my sisters!!!

I posted a thread awhile back about a great dinner I had there in August.

I too had read a number of poor reviews over the years, and was leary of going back to Tony's.

I popped over one night after a meeting, and after three months on the road I just wanted a meal like I would make at home. The chef asked what I would make myself, went back into the kitchen, and 15 minutes later served me a giant plate of gnocchi exactly like I would have made it (it wasn't on the menu, and he got the sauce just right)

Combined with my favourite sundried tomato and pesto dip which they serve with bread, it was a perfect meal.

To top it off, my table was outside right next to the parade route, the night was cool since it had just stopped raining, and my server invited me to stay after dinner to enjoy the parade from my table.

Overall a perfect dinner and as a result I just booked a return visit for later this month.

Just goes to show the wide range of experiences!

The Sundried tomato pesto is so awesome I had to find the recipe and make it at home. When we dined there I was *amazed* it was a free appetizer! It's THAT good!

The rest of the meal was good but not as memorable as the pesto. :)

I used to make a trip to POP just to buy it from the food court. They no longer sell it, but I found it at SSR - they put it on the sandwiches but sold me some.

I have the recipe but haven't had time to make it yet, probably a good thing!!!!

I hope that you have a great sister trip. I will be the one standing in awe of all of the sights (me and everyone else I know lol) Quick weekend trip down to take pictures and do some shopping :)

Went to Tony's for lunch expecting the worst after reading this board, and were very pleasantly surprised. Food was good as was the service, and the atmosphere was lovely too. iI would go there again.
