Does anyone like the Disney Honeymoon Registry??

There's an annoying bug (that I've reported) where if you're already logged in, and come back to the site, it can't find your registry. Log out, log back in, and it's there. Frustrating.

I'm also somewhat annoyed that some of the newer options on the Disney Dream aren't there yet, nor is there some of the things like Dining with an Imagineer or Wild Africa Trek. :confused3 It's only a minor quibble (people like to pay for specific experiences), but since what you're really getting is credit on a gift card, you can still use it however you want. We've had to register for a couple of things that are similar to what we want to do because the option wasn't in the registry.

That said ... We set it up before Christmas last year, so we've told family and friends not to get us gifts for anything leading up to our wedding, just get us something on the registry. Our wedding isn't until September, and we've already had $580 put on our Honeymoon Gift Card!

Of course, we're now realizing that there are some things we need to pay for in advance, because they need to be booked early. Coupled with the issue that the card can only hold $3000 (we registered for more than that), and we may be scrambling in the last weeks to get things paid for to free up room on the card.

Overall, however, it's pretty convenient, as long as you have tech-savvy family. Disney has a Gift Card app for the iPhone that we logged our card on, so we can always see the balance, too. That's a nice perk.

I did not have any issues with the site and I am just really hoping that our guests do not either. I did not realize there was an app for the iphone to check balances, could you let me know what the app is called, I would love to get it :cool1:

It is defintely a great way to get funds for your honeymoon, however, like you said we are pre-paying the whole honeymoon and will be using whatever funds we get on the card for splurges! :yay:

You are exactly right. DH and I both had everything we needed and most people asked if we were registered anywhere. We ended up trying the Honeymoon registry and I really wished it had worked. I think most of the problem we had was with our guests being confused by it (older, not computer savvy people). We felt obligated when our wedding got closer to actually go out to a store and do a formal Bridal Registry. We chose Bed Bath and Beyond and we still had not one person buy anything, :rotfl:. We did however get 2 gift cards from the store. Which was nice because we used them on something we really wanted.

Deb my fiance and I discussed this same topic at dinner last night and we will also be registering at BB&B for the more traditional guests that do not know how/want to use our registry provided by Disney Honeymoons! :dance3:

I know I have had my house for three years and it was big when I was single, but now that my fiance moved in, yeah well it would not be OK to get a whole lot more stuff I can tell you that! lol

Hey, I just went into the Apps store and searched for "Disney Gift Card" and it came right up, and it's free!

also remember if your using a mac , it will give you problems with browsers other than safari.
I had problems and they told me that it's not compatible with mozilla or chrome, had to open it in safari after erasing all my cookies.
it worked perfectly afterwards.

Hmm...I never tried to access it on Mozilla and I have IE at work and that is where I set it up so maybe that is why I had no problems!

Glad I found this thread. My DD tried to register online for this today and it wouldn't let her. Should she try again, or give them a call?

Honeymoon registries are the "new" thing with bridal showers. I think it has to do with a lot of people marrying later in life and really don't need any more boxes of "stuff".

Engagement parties are also really big now too...I really didn't want one but my mother insisted we have one...I would have rather she put the money towards the wedding but instead she did that and we really appreciated it and had a great time at it!

Totally agree! Our DD and our soon to be DSIL are 28 and 32. They have been on their own and have most everything they need for their house. A dinner at California Grill will definitely mean more to them than a new toaster or a picture frame. I know that my DM will probably insist on buying them a gift, as well as a few others. But they would much more prefer money or honeymoon credits. I can't even remember any item that we received as a gift when we got married, except a gift card for a special dinner in Chicago for our honeymoon. But there are many people that enjoy bringing a physical gift. No problem there. Glad everyone is different!

Quick Note: The Disney Gift Card app will NOT allow you to link a card with a $0.00 balance on it. Once someone buys something on your registry (or you add your own funds to the card, but I don't know why you'd do that), then you'll be able to add the card and see the balance.

Thanks, I just got the card in the mail yesterday, it is beautiful!

Thank you!! I was trying to figure it out!!!

Does anyone know about how long it takes for them to send out the cards? I filled it out a few weeks ago and still haven't received anything. I'm also having trouble finding my registry. Every time I go to show my family it's not there. But later on it pops up. :confused3

I can't remember exactly, but I think it took about 3 weeks for us to get ours. If you haven 't gotten yours in after that, I'd definately say call them! That site does some really strange things sometimes. It has a mind of its own....
Are you trying to log in your account when you show your family, or just trying to find your registry without logging in? Your family wont be able to view it (if you aren't logged in) until you get your card in and put your gift card # in to activate it :)

A few of my guests are telling me they are getting "unable to process payment" messages.

Anyone know if this is a bug with the site or something they're doing wrong?

Yes, I heard the site can be buggy, also if they are using Mozilla tell them to try accessing with Internet Explorer, it seems to work better on there...

If all else fails they can always get you a gift card from Disney....that is going to be explained to my family/friends as well in case the site is not working well...

It seems like a good number of people on these boards didn't get the card the first time around and had to call to check up on it. I didn't get mine after a month, I called and gave me info again, and then got it in about a week or two.

Thanks ladies. Yea it's been over a month and nothing. So I followed your advice librarygeek and I called them. They told me they're not sure what happened but they will send it out first thing tomorrow. So hopefully soon I will be getting it.

You will not be disappointed with it, I cannot wait to make a shadow box with our pins and this gift card for our house...It really is pretty!

Is anyone else having a problem adding accomodations to your registry? It keeps telling me that there are no products in the category. :/ Heck, half the time it won't even let me log on at all. I emailed customer support about this like a week ago, and still no reply. I really hope these problems get ironed out because this is the only thing we really want!

I agree. I have been having problems this whole weekend. I also emailed them and nothing. This is the only thing we have registered for as well. We already live together and have all those wonderful domestic necessities, now I just want honeymoon stuff! LoL

I think I am going to make little inserts for my bridal party to put in the shower invitations with instructions on how to get to the web site. I am also going to put JUST in case that gift cards to Disney would also be fine as the site seems to be very finicky!
