Does anyone like (or at least not terribly dislike) Hollywood & Vine?

I have a Fantasmic reservation at Hollywood and Vine that I would really like to keep. (Going at a very crowded time.) But is the food there really awful? Or just not excellent? I can stand not excellent, but really awful might get me thinking about canceling. Also, as with all the Fantasmic packages, our dining time is really early (3:50) so perhaps that will help?

I haven't been back there since May 2006 but we were happy with it then. It certainly wasn't excellent, but did find it to be hot, fresh, basic fare back then. It worked just fine for us on the Fantasmic Package.

We've done the fantasmic package there 2 times (jan 2005 & Sept 2007) and liked it both times. We find that there is something for everyone since we all are so picky on the foods we eat.

We also did the playhouse lunch in there in Sept and found that good too.

We've had no complaints on the food at all in the 3 times we went and the one time we had 13 people and everyone liked it.

I would go for it. It's normal standard buffet food. Nothing fancy or special.
We actually have it booked again for Dec 26th.

We went to H&V during our last visit in September and thought it was great. Our server kept the drinks refilled and was quick to clear away empty plates. We had people of all ages in our party and everyone found plenty of choices that appealed to them. I really don't know why this restaurant gets such a bad rap!

I agree. I don't think the food was "to die for". However, it was good. My family enjoyed it. We are going back there for the fantasmic pacakge. We leave for our trip Dec 8th. :cool1:

I like the food a lot, but the atmosphere isn't the greatest. When it's crowded (which is pretty much all the time), it's really loud and uncomfortable.

I ate there pre-characterification. It is a bit loud. The food quality is Standard Disney Buffet---a couple things that will really strike you as downright good, plus many more things that are not worth writing home about either way, good or bad. We thought it was a fair value as a meal.

They had sweet potato pinwheels when I ate there that were worth getting seconds of. The blackened chicken was a little dry. The rest was fine, but not memorable.

Good enough for a buffet. Not as good as Boma, but better than Trail's end. Good enough selection for everyone.

We've always enjoyed the food at Hollywood and Vine, but because there are other locations with more atmosphere we don't often go there. I think that a lot of other people probably feel the same. There's nothing wrong with H&V, you'll have a good time, you'll be full when you leave... it's just that it gets overlooked. :thumbsup2

We did the Playhouse Disney lunch at H&V last January and though the food was good. There was a good variety and it was fresh and plentiful

We ate here last week(my review is on the dining review board). We all thought it was the worst tasting meal of our trip, however, we ate at some really yummy restaurants so it really isn't a fair comparison. I thought the restaurant was ok. It definitely wasn't nasty and there were some things I even thought were good but overall, esp. for what they charge to eat here, the food quality was similar to that of a cheap family buffet. My advice is try it and if you don't like it, don't go back. Everyone has different tastes and expectations, so you may find you love it. Even if you don't, like we didn't, it's a buffet and odds are you will find something to eat there that you will like and just fill up on that. That's what I did!

We have always liked it, and if you go right after the parade you can usually get a walk up seating.

Went their last may and it was absolutly the worst meal of our trip, horrible tasting and a terrible variety for a buffet. We will never go back their again.

We ate there Nov 06 and did not like it at all, but we really aren't into buffets, my dh doesn't want other people touching his food. Definately very noisy.

Put me in with the "not dislike" people. It's not as good as Boma or Crystal Palace, but it's perfectly acceptable, and the best choice for the Fantasmic Package. The package price at H&V is close to the usual cost, whereas the package prices at Mama Melrose and Brown Derby are a lot more than you are likely spend just eating there.

It's fine for what it is. For a pre-Fantasmic meal there are ample choices for everyone. I remember this corn "spoon bread" being really good. The only thing I didn't like was the atmosphere; it was LOUD and lots of messy un-bussed tables. I think they had just gotten everyone in at once. It's the kind of place where you get in, eat and get out, and it's nice not to have to wait in line for Fantasmic. It's certainly not awful, but it won't knock your socks off either.

I enjoyed my dinner at H&V in Sept.

I must admit that I had really low expectations for this meal. So, it was easy for it to impress. But, if you can be happy with basic American fare, H&V can be a decent meal.

I would never compare H&V to Boma, since their goals are so different, but, Boma is much better.

My family enjoyed it very much. We ate a ton of mussels and shrimp. There were also several good bistro style salads and pasta dishes. The desserts were merely o.k., but the kids liked dispensing their own softserve ice cream.
