I have a wierd question...does anyone ever leave things for the mousekeeping? Like unopened snacks that they don't want to take back home with them or unused sunscreen or anything like that? I don't mean instead of tipping, but in addition to.

Thanks.

Beth

I know alot of people leave the usual tips of $$ but as for extra's you are speaking of I don't think mousekeeping would keep those extras -- maybe food but if you leave behind sunscreen and such they are suppossed to send it to lost and found -- I know this because we checked out early one morning and realized we left behind a full bottle of shampoo and asked if we could retrieve it -- it was around 1pm by the time we realized it. And that's where we were told it ended up.

just thought I'd let ya know -- so I'd doubt it's worth it to leave it if you want the mousekeeper to actually end up with it. Unless of course you maybe leave a note with it?

I asked about this some years ago and was told that if I left an explicit note listing the unopened food or beverage items I was leaving, mousekeeping would be allowed to keep it if they wished.

As you're planning to do, I leave the regular tip as well.

Last July we were staying at the YC and I had tipped every day for mousekeeping and turndown service. There was one lady who was always so nice to us and she always left towel animals, etc. in the room. She would see us in the hall and would always pleasantly smile and say hello. She was spanish and didn't speak too much english. One day as we were leaving I saw her a few doors down the hall and I went back in my room, grabbed a box of Godiva chocolates I had brought from home for the concierge and gave them to her as we were leaving. The look on her face was priceless and all she kept saying was, " so nice, so nice." It was really one of the best memories of the trip but then I get great pleasure from surprising people with things they don't expect!:teeth:

What a very nice gesture YCFAN. That's a whole lot nicer than some leftover Diet Rite that we sometimes leave.:teeth: Along with the tip, of course. I'll have to try to do something like that next trip...although I don't think I'll try to bring Godiva from home in July!

Just noticed that your trip was in July! Did you buy the chocolates in WDW somewhere or did they make the trip OK?

We drove down from NC and I kept them in a separate bag so that I made sure they always stayed in AC. Our room was ready when we arrived so I didn't have to worry about storing them. I had thought of that however and that's why I had put them in a bag by themselves in case I had to ask concierge to store them for me. They all made the trip just fine. We have a Campbell's Soup factory near us and they have an outlet store that you can go in on friday's and make purchases. Campbell's Soup makes Godiva chocolates believe it or not. I could get a $35 box of chocolates for about $17. They have all different sizes and I ended up bringing about five different boxes with me. It's amazing how many people just perk up at the sight of chocolate!!

when we went for halloween, alll week we left MK lindt chocolates and hershey kisses and said happy halloween in the note with them..

She did take them everyday ...what she did with them is beyond me.....But im sure she appreciated the nice gesture.....the least we were hoping for when leaving them

I'm going for the first time in 17 years this December. We're staying at ASMu and I was wondering what a good or what the average tip is for Mousekeeping?

Thanks! :o)

We went this past Dec. and instead of the mousekeeping envelopes...I used little red stockings. I wrote: Thank You Mousekeeping on them with green fabric paint. We put the tip inside the stocking along with a small candy cane. They really liked them.:p
