who you can donate old cell phones to? I remember reading a while back about some agency taking them to give to women in abusive situations, but not where.

I have two old trac phones that at the very least can be used to dial 911...

Just do a search on Google with donate cell phone , and you'll come up with a host of organizations.

Check with your local women's shelter in your area -- they'll most likely accept it.

I give mine to the local battered women's shelter. They refurbish them and give them to their clients in the event they need to make a 911 call. I hthnk they refurbish them so all they can do is call 911, but, in the situation the poor wmen are in, probably 911 is the most important number anyhow!

We dropped ours off at our local Verizon store when we changed services. I'd check to see if a local cellular store takes old phones. Your police station might take them as well. Many of the old phones are programmed to only place a 911 call and given to victims of domestic abuse.
