Both DD's have to do a book project for English. They need to write an "exit journal", answering 5 questions that they were given.

I'm not too sure what an exit journal is. Should the questions be answered in journal form? Can anyone help?

Does it have anything to do with ending the semester or moving on to another grade/school next year?

Why don't they ask their teacher? If they don't understand an assignment, they should find out what they have to do.

The questions are specific to the book, so I don't think so.

Oh believe me, that is a bone of contention right now in our house. They will be asking tomorrow. There's no excuse for not asking the teacher about the assignment when you get it if you don't understand it.

I just figured they could work on it today if they knew what an exit journal was.

Unless they've specifically been told to write it in a journal format, usually reading journals aren't necessarily that.

Never heard of an exit journal though.
