We have the small video tapes that you have to hook up to the tv- is there a way to do put them on a dvd. They are all Disney and we can't watch them. I need to bring them somewhere as opposed to doing it on the computer since I am useless on this thing.
Thanks, Linda

It won't work if they are pre-recorded Disney tapes because those tapes more than likely have Macrovision copy protection that will prevent you from casually recording them onto DVDs. There are ways to circumvent this, but they are expensive and may be illegal (even though you own the tapes and just want to convert them to a new format).

If these are videotapes that you have made using a camcorder or recorded off of TV, you can buy a DVD recorder and copy them.

Put the tape in the vcr, hook them together using the A/v cables, hit play on thge vcr and record on the dvd recorder.

I took some pics in to Walmart yesterday to have them enlarged to 8 X 10's. They had a huge sign up that says they now offer the services of recording a variety of sizes of tapes onto DVD. If you don't want to do it yourself, check for pricing at your local Walmart....good luck! :sunny:

I got my son a DVD-recorder for christmas this year. Radio Shack online had a great deal. 79.99 after a $50 dollar rebate. Free shipping and since I went through My points.com I got points earned.

We are going to put our Disney trips on dvd.
Plus alot of the home movies.

Our TiVo/DVD Recorder has ports to accept audio (red and white) output and video (yellow) output from our VCR using RCA patch-cords. Once the recording is on the TiVo hard drive, we can burn as many copies of it onto DVD as we wish, or even transfer it directly onto our computer for editing.

Unless you know a secret........

I got this really great product called the HP DVD movie writer dc 5000. I got it from the Hewlett packard website. So far I transferred about 30 video tapes onto DVD. most of them were my son when he was a baby (he's now 20) and lots of Halloweens, Christmases, and Birthdays) its great cos you can watch the clips on your computer monitor and just copy the ones you want. It is time consuming, but its really worth it.

Of course, there are ALWAYS secrets. ;)

I just wanted to avoid the disappointment and expectations that could result from trying to make copies of pre-recorded VHS movies. One of these days I'll get around to copying all of our home movies onto DVDs. Just about the time that DVDs become obsolete.
