Does anyone know how Windsor Palms fared in Hurricane Charley?

We're supposed to leave in a few days. I can't find a general phone number for the property. The person who manages the condo we've booked is probably so busy with the aftermath of the storm that I wanted to give them a day or two before calling. We've been through hurricanes down here in Caribbean and know first hand what it's like. I do feel bad worrying about our holiday when so many have suffered terrible losses.

And I wouldn't hesitate to call the owner you are renting from to check in and be sure everything is still in order.

I just called the property. They said they had a "little damage here and there" but that everything was good. The condo owners also sent me a nice reassuring e-mail. So I guess i'd better start packing!

Georgia - Keep in mind that WP is a gated community. You may not be able to get in if you aren't staying there. Maybe if you ask the guard nicely they'll let you drive through but they may not. They do have a sales office there so you could say you are visiting to check out property. I'm sure they'd let you in then.

We were there while Charley hit. In that area, it was not hit as badly as furthur down 192. We had the two bedroom unit. Both of the bedroom lights went out as well as the air conditioner, the stove and microwave in the kitchen, however, the refrigerator still worked as well as all the lights in the living room, due to their generator. Many people had no refrigerator so they checked out. (I do not know how they determined what things were to remain working.) The pool looked fine the next day, but no one was allowed to swim, and the miniature golf was flooded. Some siding blew off the tops of the buildings, which they collected and left on the WET stairs so we could trip on it. All in all WP was not hit hard at all in comparison to other places we saw as we left. They did have crews out cleaning the property the day after. We checked out a night early, and began the long drive back home and there were big problems as we checked out. It was 11:00 PM and we had to wait in line over an hour to check out. They lost many peoples reservations and had no rooms ready to give at least 50 people who were waiting in and outside the trailer. I have never seen so many unhappy people in any place I have ever stayed! I will write a review as soon as I can.

Where did you stay? It doesn't sound like Windsor Palms. That is all privately owned residences. There is no onsite check-in or check-out procedure. I don't see how they could lose reservations since they don't handle the reservations at all. Really curious to hear where you were.

Just to clarify - Disneymomma stayed at WYNDHAM Palms, not Windsor Palms. These are often confused because of the similar names but they are 2 different places.
