I recently saw wine bottles filled with led lights at a craft fair. They looked beautiful and I was wondering how to do it to use as center pieces for a Christmas party. Any ideas how to make them?

I briefly read a couple of responses on the other thread and decided not to bother to reply, especially since they weren't asking for advice or information. My DH makes these wine bottles and I was so surprised when I read the other thread that they have the lights coming out the top of the bottle. My DH uses a diamond tipped glass cutter drill bit to drill a hole in the back of the bottle near the bottom. He uses plumber's putty to form a "donut hole" around where he will be drilling and fills that ring with a coolant to prevent the bottle from overheating and breaking. You can only drill around 5 seconds on and off or the bottle will get too hot.

He cuts the light strand by the first light and threads the lights using a string and then splices the wiring back together. He tries to leave the original bottle label on, replaces the cork, chooses a bottle cap to compliment the label and uses a heat gun to shrink wrap the bottle cap back on. The finished product looks just like a regular wine bottle only with lights inside. They look very nice on a counter top wine rack to illuminate the other bottles. Other folks dress them up with greenery and/or flowers/ribbons etc.. but he likes them as realistic as possible.

Good luck. If you have any other questions, let me know.
