I haven't heard of this book but here's a link to my post from the other day which includes links to Bryan Peterson's latest book, Understanding Shutter Speed.
I haven't read that one but I thought it looked really good and almost bought it from Amazon. I like Scott Kelby's The Digital Photography book. He also has a book 2 version w/ same main title, but haven't read that one yet. I bought it though...I like his writing style better than Peterson's (Understanding Exposure). I don't have a lot of time and Kelby's gets straight to the point. Peterson's is full of really nice pictures -- and then you have to go hunting in various corners and sometimes a whole other page for the text that tells you what settings he used to get the shots. They are both good books, but I can only take Peterson's in small doses. I have read it many times and ended up falling asleep while reading it every time.
