I know they don't sell this anymore but I am wondering how they have held up the past few years for some people. My daughter is 6yrs old and I am looking for a simple computer for her to use for learning games, Webkinz, and to practice typing. It seems this computer has so many parental blockages which I loved as well as the cool games and monitor. I was wondering if it is worth it to buy used or should I just look for another simple computer. I want something she can grow into for 4-5yrs. Thanks in advance

Hello,
Yes, we have a Disney Dream Desk and love it! We are Disneyphiles and total tech geeks and could not be happier with the look of this thing!:thumbsup2 My 8 year old daughter loves it. The mouse fits her hand better than most. Also the bundled optical pen is so fun to use for paint and such. There are a couple of caveats I would like to note. First, I would suggest to buy one with the software and manuals that came with it. There is an amazing lack of information and support on the net. Disney has no information and Medion has very little. In fact I was googleing for info (again) on the PC when I ran across this post. One would think there would be at least third party fan support sites like other unique machines have. So far I have found none. Second, add RAM! XP doesn't run too well on it. Once you add a bunch of programs it can be a slug. I believe it can take a Gig (2X512k) but I cannot know for sureas I'm having trouble finding any definitve specs. So far we deal with the slow machine, I have been lazy and have not yet bought and instaled more memory.

We had been wanting one for several years and got one off of ebay this time last year. About three years ago there were tons of them on ebay and the Comp USA online outlet. I purchased all the accessories at that time (cameras, joysticks, printer) because there seemed to be so many of the PC's around. Shortly after the computers sold out and it took a couple of years untill I found one at the right price and time. The accessories stayed around and are still readily avalible.

I hope this helped.

I bought this for my grandson when he was 2- had to get it from England (couldn't find one here that I could win on ebay- someone always outbidding at last second). My grandson LOVES it! Now he is 4, and his 2-year old brother fights him for computer time. My son didn't hook it up to the internet- the 4-year-old is just too smart on the other household computers and they want him to be under their nose every time he's on the internet. It's not always possible to be in his room when he's on the computer, so for now they use cd games and they love the built in picture-making tools. They even know how to make the computer sound like barnyard animals while they are drawing! This computer sure seems to take kid abuse very well- it has held up very well with the kids doing all sorts of no-no's, like pushing the button to shut it off instead of shutting down properly. The only problem we had was that since we got it from England and their electric hookups are different- my son had to get some kind of adapter so it could plut into a US outlet. But I do have a problem of not finding any cartridges for printing- and I would really love to know if anyone knows where to get the cartridges for the printer that goes with this- the grandkids have never printed because I can't find the cartridges. Thanks- lilrghow
