I bought a Singer 6038 sewing machine in January and I have used it two or three times and now when I try to sew it is coming up all "loopy" on the back of the fabric, I thought that this might be the tention but I have set the machine up over and over again exactly as it says in the manual and it is still doing it.

Any suggestions?? I have curtains for my nursery to make and this is really frustrating me!!

Thanks in advance for any help! :teeth:

My machine is not a Singer, but they're all pretty much the same.

If what is "loopy" is the thread from the seam you're sewing, it is the tension. There are 2 types...the upper thread tension & the bobbin tension. The tension can very from fabric to fabric. eg. a sheer fabric vs calico vs denim etc...

My machine is a Singer. DH got it for me yearssssssss ago at Costco. I have that problem too. I blame it on the tension and weight of the fabric. Right now my tension knob will not stay on, so out it goes to get fixed, we hope not too much money.
