Just wondering if anyone had a Bissell ProSteam Carpet Cleaner or one of the portable SpotBots and what your experience is with them.

We are looking at purchasing one to do the carpets in our home since they are actually cheaper to buy one of these than to have our carpets done once by a professional cleaning company. Our carpet is only 3 years old and they have a couple of minor spots (spilled soda and 1 tiny spot of fingernail polish on DD11's carpet). Are these really worth the money?

Target has the ProSteam on sale for $149 with a $15 gift card back. It has the wand attachment so you can do the stairs too. Sounds like a great deal IF this thing works.

Thanks!

I have a Bissell PowerSteam Carpet cleaner that I have had about a year now and it works great (not sure what the difference in the ProSteam and the PowerSteam are but mine was about the same price) I always use the Bissell Brand - Fiber Cleansing Formula cleaner. My DD had spilled a lot of makeup on her off white carpet - blush, mascara, base, etc....and every bit of it cleaned right up!!!

Thanks. I was mistaken on the name - it is the Bissell ProHeat that we were looking at. Good to hear that you have had great experience with your Bissell. :thumbsup2

I have a Bissell Prosteam and it works great. We have dogs and it will get the hair out of the carpet. We have had our for 5 years and it still works fine. I had to replace the belt on it once but that is all.

I have a Bissell ProHeat that I got about 3 years ago. It works great. I love it so much that I bought a Bissell vacuum. That was a huge mistake.

We have the SpotBot specifically for out Toddler son and two dogs and it works great. It has gotten several hard spots out that our steam cleaner didn't. The only down side is that it can make a single spot look alot cleaner than the surronding area until the soil gets evened out.

I just bought a Hoover SteamVac with Clean Surge for $140 on Amazon. Got better reviews than the Bissle. I cleaned my son's bedroom floor today and got similar results with my previous Rug Doctor rentals. Required six water changes to clean and rinse the 12x12 room but it is clean and I am not worn out from lugging 3.5 gals of water too and fro.

We had the SpotBot and it worked OK, but then we got the ProHeat 2X and it is terriffic!

The spotbot was only ok for small areas, and it really is no more convenient to use than the full-size thing.

We had a hoover for a while, but it started leaking--the leaking got worse and worse until we just threw it out.

We have a dog, a 4-year-old and an 18-month-old, so this thing gets a lot of use in our house. But I think you're going to have a problem with that nail polish no matter what you use.

Do these machines leave the carpet particularly wet? The past couple of times we rented a rug doctor, I think we left twice as much water in the carpet as what was sucked up. :confused3

We will do our living room carpet in the evening, after the kids go to bed, and it is damp when we finish, but completely dry in a couple of hours (even in the Houston humidity).

I agree with the pp the hoover steam vac is a better more durable product. I have 3 large dogs, DD2, DS6m and a DH30 and can clean the entire house in about 4 hours (this is with out interuptions) and get the same results as a rug doctore. One of the things I like the most is I can take it apart and just put in the dishwasher. I carpet clean once a month, and have had a steamVac for almost 6 years.

We also have a spot bot for small spots that I don't want to get out the steamvac for.

DW and I also bought a ProHeat a year ago. We used to rent Rug Doctors, but found it very inconvenient. So we decided to invest in our own and went with the Bissell ProHeat. I gotta say we love it and it's one of the best investments we've made. We have a light colored carpet where stains easily show up. About once a month, we'll do a quick cleaning and the stains come right out. We had a couple of tougher stains in which we had to use the hand brush to scrub over them, and they came right out. Having the hand tools is also nice for doing our sofas, chairs and other upholstered items. We even do our cars by using the hand tools. Seems like you found a good deal on one and I would say go for it. :thumbsup2

I have a Bissel ProHeat and it works ok. It gets the job done but not spectacular. I also owned a Hoover. I should have kept the Hoover and not sold it. It is much better than the Bissel. The Hoover is constructed better, has better tools and cleans better. The only thing about the Hoover that I had was that it didn't heat the water, but I just used hot tap water with no issues.

I have had both a bissel carpet cleaner and I currently have the hoover steamvac. I like the hoover much better. It seems like it sucks the water out of the carpet a lot better than the bissel did. I also like the setup a little better on the hoover. The bissel was weird where it had like a bag inside the container, where both the clean and dirty water went in the same container. Hard to explain but it was weird. It seemed like it left my carpets pretty wet where the hoover they dry really fast.

We have gone through 2 Spot Bots and are on our third. They work great for small areas - we use it for spills the kids make or accidents the dog has. The only downside is that after they get used for a while, they start to leak, which is why we have gone through so many. The one we have now is starting to leak. You have to make sure there is no solution or dirty water in it when you store it. The solution can also be pricey if you use it a lot.

I've had my Spot Bot for about 2 years. I use really hot tap water and Oxy Clean and it works great. I use it for the little spills and accidents we have and its super easy- just fill it up, sit it down and walk away. When it beeps, it's clean! :thumbsup2
