I just called them to see what they could offer me, I gave them all my information, we have absolutely clean driving record, good credit history and they gave me a quote of $2005.94 for a six months policy!!
I almost fell off my chair , I pay $1500 for a full year both vehicles , full coverage!
The lady claimed it included mechanical insurance ( which I do not want because I have service contracts on both ) and excellent customer service. Oh yeah, for $2500 more a year, I better get excellent customer service, LOL , actually they should have someone come out to my house weekly and wash my car!
Does anyone here have geico? and if so how much do you pay? I think something was really wrong here, she probably gave me the works without telling me. No I did not get their policy, I was just shopping.

I do. $63 a month for my '89 Accord. Obviously the loss of my $500 car wasn't insured (forgot what they call that - comprehensive?) Thanks for the reminder -- need to switch over to my new car.

We have Geico -- we pay $700/semi-annual for two SUVs and a motorcycle.

BTW, we use AAA and declined their offer of mechanical insurance.

Then something just does not add up....I wonder if she was giving me the works...!

Sounds like she was giving you more than the 'Works'.....

We use Geico too and pay $600 ish every 6 months for full coverage on two cars.

This thread reminded me that now that my car is running agian i needed to get insurance on it.

Geico qouted me $416.70 for full coverage on a 96 Nissan 200SX, Sporty car

Hmmm, That quote just doesn't sound right. I have GEICO and we have a 2004 suburban, 1995 Chevrolet pickup and 1997 Honda Accord, and our yearly rate is 1100.00. BTW we have full coverage on all the vehicles

Have you thought about getting an online quote with them - might be worth a try.

We used to have GEICO insurance on our 2 automobiles but the premium went up by about $600 one year and we'd never made a single claim. We shopped around then and found that Progressive gave us the best rate and we've been with them ever since (a little over 6 years). Progressive will give your their rate and the rates of a few different companies so they may be worth looking into. Good luck!

We had GEICO for 6 months when we first moved here. At the time it was the best we could get. Then we were solicited by GE auto insurance - a company that is very picky about driving records, credit history, etc. That cut our premium about in half. BTW we got a bill for $12 after our GEICO policy expired and when we did not pay it they referred it to a collection agency.

I think there are a few things that make a difference -
(so polling people doesn't always work)
1) Claims history
2) Vehicles
3) Where you live
4) Age/Gender of the driver(s)
5) Level of Coverage

But in my case I have 5 yr Good driver discount, multi vehicle discount, no claims etc, moderate coverage and pay approx $1,200 every 6 months with GEICO 2003 Lexus GX470 and a 2000 Lexus GS400 which gets nailed for a performance surcharge of $200 per 6 months.

we have GEICO and pay less than $600 / 6 months for full coverage on our Pontiac Vibe and Honda Accord. I think the person giving you the quote must have had a wicked cup of coffee that day. :hyper:

We have full coverage (including mechanical breakdown & rental car reimbursement) with Geico. Our premium is around $1200 for 6 months for a 2002 Santa Fe and a 2003 PT Cruiser. We've got the 5-year good driving discount, as well as the multi-car and anti-theft devices discounts on our policy.

I have gotten an online quote from both Geico and Progressive. This was for 3 cars, two married adults with spotless driving records. The Progressive quote was very very good, slightly less than what I pay now, but the Geico quote was almost double the Progressive quote.

I went looking around for new car insurance when my policy was getting ready to be renewed last year. I contacted both Progressive and Geico and almost fainted!!:faint: The rates were more than double what I currently had!! We have one vehicle, and both of us are good drivers, no tickets or accidents. It made no sense what so ever!! I found the best rate at State Farm....$361/ 6 months for full coverage and a $250 deductible!
:D

We have a 2000 Montana Ext. van, and a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire, we used to pay $585/6 mos. We have dropped down to liability on the Sunfire, and pay around $485/6 mos. I have good driver discount (although my son had a wreck last year), anti-theft devices, and I am a retired gov. employee, which helps your rate.

I have to say, even though I still have GEICO, about 3 years ago we had a terrible hail storm come through, everybody in town had to replace their roofs, air conditioners, etc. My new van had quite a bit of damage, but mostly on the top where it's not very noticeable, and the Sunfire was pounded. GEICO refused to pay what our local body shops quoted as the price to fix/repaint. They (GEICO) kept insisting that paintless dent removal would take care of it, even though all the body shops told us our cars were not candidates for paintless dent removal.

Sorry to say, I went ahead and took the check from GEICO. I had a lot of work-related stress at that time, and couldn't bring myself to get into a big fight with ins. right then. Didn't have the paintless dent removal done, since everybody said it was pointless, so just applied the checks to our van loan.

My point is, GEICO does not have the same rates for everyone, if you can get a great rate, go for it, otherwise, their customer service does not merit inflated rates, IMO!!
