I think that my kids take it for granted that they get to go to Disney World. I had never been before I was an adult. Before, us going to Disney would mean saving to be able to go. Therefore, we didn't do much else. Now, we don't have to save as much, but still it's a good chunk of change. Our first trip was without our only DD. She was 1 1/2 years old. Then we went again when she was almost 4. We left our younger DD home that time. And, while I know many people can't do that, we did and we had a good time, and DD had a good time with Grandma. It was a great time to take DD and spend some alone time with her. So, it worked out great. Our first trip with both DDs we took my parents, so they could help with the kids and give us some time to do things alone. That was wonderful. We got to experience both sides of things. The last trip we made in December, I have to admit that my children were not very well behaved. They wanted it to be all about them. I realize they are children, and I realize that it's WDW and it should be all about them, but they were a bit overboard.
So while we aren't leaving them behind this time because we are trying to punish them, I think it will be good for them. We were planning on doing a different vacation this year, but we bought into DVC, so we decided we'd go to WDW alone. We are looking forward to it a lot. I'm hoping the next time we take the girls that they appeciate the "gift" they have of being able to go so often.
