Does anyone enjoy the food at Whispering Canyon Cafe?

It was on the "restaurants you did not like" thread. A lot of people were saying that they were sick for the next day after eating there - maybe it was food poisoning - check if you were there around the same dates.

DS & I ate at WCC in Sept 09 & it was great. We both had the skillet & the only sickness we got was from eating too much. It's one of the two places he asked to repeat, Ohana being the other. He really enjoyed the milkshake refills I think he had 5.

We love WCC. We have never ordered the skillet. We order a la carte, and it's always been delicious.

We have eaten there many times and we love it. We all get the skillet meal and it's great. We have it planned this next trip and since we will be on the dining plan, we will take dessert with us- there is no way we could eat dessert after eating all that.

We had a very good lunch at WCC on our last trip, but none of us ordered the skillet. I thought the quality was definitely cut above most of the other places we ate at. Plus, we took the ferryboat there which was fun.

The food is fine, not the best, not the worst, just good old home cooking. The atmosphere makes it worth going. Very fun!

We have ate at WCC and did not get sick. If this was a true reputation this place would be shut down. I would say the skillet meal we had at lunch was very high in sodium. Typically, salt and fat are used in tasteless food to give it some flavor...so that explains why they have to have the entertainment gimmick. This gimmick component may also translate to receiving poor service, if any, as a waiter/waitress may devote their attention to one table...so this may make your bottomless milkshake actually have a bottom after the first glass...

I hate there once and never again. We had the all you-can-eat and the first round of ribs were good. The second round was raw!!! I told the waiter and they came back with a fresh plate and said that the others were not raw it's their natural color. Gimme a break, I know raw meat when I see it. We went based on reviews we had read. I understand the noise concept but it was mostly kids running around tables passing off ketchup bottles. I would pass for the price and go to Boma's or Ohana's.

We had breakfast there and the food was OK, but my family is not into having the waiter humilate them so we did not enjoy it. When my teenage daughter got up to go to the bathroom the waiter yelled out so everyone could hear don't forget to wash you hands. she is a shy person so it was very uncomfortable. I realize this is their routine but we would go just about anywhere else before going there again

I'll be honest, I didn't really like the food or the service. DH and I got the All you care to eat, DS the kid's hamburger, and I don't remember what DD and DMIL got. The skillet was edible, but it wasn't great. Our server didn't bring out the coleslaw and it wasn't until the end of the meal that I had realized it wasn't there. I asked him about it and he said "Well, most people don't eat it so I just don't bring it out" Well, whether or not I eat it is for me to decide but a server should never just not bring out something that is listed as an included item. DS's hamburger was so dry he took one bite and refused to eat the rest. We ordered our desserts and waited and waited. Finally we just requested them to go because we had been in there so long. He brought them out and thankfully we checked, as one was incorrect.

The poor table beside us, I felt so sorry for them. One of their son's meal didn't come out with the rest of the family's meal. The rest of them got their food before us and the child didn't get his food until we were done eating.

I know that it's supposed to be a fun environment with joking around and stuff, but when food doesn't come or isn't served just because you're server doesn't think you'll like it is not fun. BTW, the coleslaw was something I did like!

Anyway, when we left, we all agreed that once was enough for us.

At least we had one highlight of the evening. We took the boat back to MK to catch a bus to AKL. While on the boat, the firework show from MNSSHP was going on so we had a nice view of them from the lake.

I don't like the food at WCC. We got the skillet and it was very, very greasy. Trust me, if I think it's too greasy, it's waaaaay too greasy.

I will give them some credit. The cornbread is wonderful and the milkshake was one the best I've ever had.

We eat dinner there each trip. The atmosphere is nice and we always have a great time. We have not ever felt sick after..
We normally order the huge skillet (we tend to overeat there).
I like having fun with the staff and this is what i get when we go there.:flower3:

I've eaten there about 5-6 times... keep going back! We always enjoy the food, we usually get the skillet. Love the ribs, the apple vinegar dressing on the salad is good- and the orange creamsicle shake is TDF!

We've eaten here quite a few times, and we've always enjoyed it! Its not the best food I've ever eaten, but its good! The last few times, I've gotten the pulled pork sandwich which was very good! The shakes are really good too!
