Does anyone else wish all the rooms had VCR's or DVD's?

The DVD players are in the living rooms, not the bedrooms. We rarely even think about playing a movie while we are at Disney, but if we wanted to have one in the bedroom, we would just hook up the laptop.

We are the opposite. We ONLY have DVD's, no VHS tapes. We have one VCR in the house and the rest are all DVD players-even my minivan has a DVD player. I was planning on bringing some DVD's for my kids to watch. Can anyone tell me if all 1 bdr villas at Boardwalk have DVD players??? Also, do they have them in the living room and the bedroom, or just the living room? Thanks!

I have never stayed at BW, but I think they still have VCR's. (BCV was the 1st to get DVD player.) They are updating each resort, but I am not sure if they got to BWV yet. I think I read they updated OKW already, so BW might be next. Only the main room has VCR's or DVD players I think.

pbharris4, thanks, that is what I was thinking. We don't need it for much since the car has one already, but it might be nice on the plane too.

Actually, since most portable DVD players have AV input/output jacks, they can plug into a TV with audio/video input jacks. They are usually colored yellow and white. Some TVs have the AV input jacks located in the front. Others are located at the back of the TV.

If you go to www.walmart.com and click on electronics and then click on portable DVD players, you'll see they have a Durabrand portable DVD player with a 7"screen and AV output jacks to hook up to a TV for $99.88. Check it out. Sounds like a pretty good deal for you. :sunny: Heck, it sounds like a good deal for us. :rotfl:

Does anyone know if the TVs in the DVC rooms have AV input/output jacks? I guess they would have to have them if they can be hooked up to a full sized VCR or DVD player, so it's probably not an issue if you have a portable DVD player that you want to hook up to the TV at WDW.

I hope they don't the studio is not in need of a DVD or vcr in them IMHO.

We always plug in our camcorder and watch the movies that we made that day- the kids LOVE it (even the teens).

Disneyphd, we are from Swartz Creek near Flint and my sister lives in Royal Oak! Nice to see a msg. from someone close by!

disney-super-mom, thanks I will look into that. Does sound like a deal. :cool1: and Christmas is coming after all.

spedtcr, we do the same thing. Cool about being from MI. Where in RO is your sister? We are at 12 mile and Woodward.

CharlesTD, do you ever stay in a studio? It is one thing to stay there and feel you don't need one. It is another to normally stay in a 1 or 2 bedroom and say those poor studio saps don't need one. ;) :)

When we had a 1BR there last Dec, the living room had a combo unit (VCR&DVD player together) - HTH

We didn't even open up the tv in the bedroom but I know for sure that the living room tv system of the 1BRs at the BWV have a dvd player. That's what we were in this past September.

Cool, I wonder when they will get to updating VWL. I think they are last on the update list since they were the last one built before they started putting DVD players in.

Oh well since we need an add on, but aren't getting one we are doing stuidos, so it doesn't really matter for us.

Disney tv is pretty lacking at the resorts. If we want some chill-out time to swim and then come in and watch an old movie we always bring our portable DVD player. My husband hooks it up through the tv and that works fine.

I, too, think WDW cable is geared toward the one-time guest. There's really not much of a choice at all. Except if you're at Hilton Head or Vero. I think when we stayed there it was much better.

Disney probably wants you in the parks when you're at WDW and not watching tv. That much be the logic for the pitiful programming.

Why do you need movies/news/variety when you can watch the DVC promo channel over and over and over and over until your wife takes away the remote? :confused3

My sister is near 13 and Main; took me a while to remember to ask her :)

That is very close to me (around 12 and woodward) so your sister is less then 2 miles from my house! Pretty cool! :cool1:

BTW I really like resort TV. Love it in fact. But it only holds DD attention for so long and tends to wind them up instead of down at the end of the day (me too!)

Have you tried the stories that are read aloud all evening long on one of the channels? Maybe 17 or so. When are children were young, they loved listening to those as they settled into bed.

We have, they are only good for so long. We do tend to bring a few books with us to read at night too. I did find on my last trip (we stayed at PORS because we were out of points and got a great deal) that around channel 69 they had the cartoon loop that they show in the lobys. That was good for a while. They had the same thing at VB too. Anyone else found this? I will look again next trip (we are bringing a portable DVD player this time too.)
